My self-summary
I'm a curious smartass. I'm an optimistic cynic.

I'm probably not as weird as I like to think I am. Some will disagree.
I think about too many things so figure I need to filter myself for people - meaning I look careful and quiet and slightly difficult until I think people can handle my sharp edges - then I get playful. I tend to make my best friends that way.

It seem I prefer partners in quirk / crime. I'm fond of directness in that I'd rather have a few closer say-anything relationships than many say-little acquaintances.

I'm better at hugs now that I don't overthink so much.
What I’m doing with my life
Job and/or freelance work in technical stuff. Am considering moving to the other hemisphere, and/or a research job within my real interests.
Occasionally dreaming a bit about other things I might be able to live on (so far not enough guts there).
The first things people usually notice about me
My minimum velocity.
A few people have asked whether I'm a dancer. This pleases me though I'm not, and I'm really not controlled enough to understand why they ask:)

Actually, I really don't know. Maybe I should hold a poll.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like storytelling. I'll watch some bad movies to the end because I want to know where they go. I like wildly personal or challenging things. Which usually correlates with grit or random-honesty stuff. I prefer these things even in the schlocky, escapist, good-bad, eye-candy stuff.

My cheerup movies used to be Tank Girl, Fifth Element, and Hedwig. I have different kinds of love for the Aliens series, Ghibli movies, Real Genius, Princess Bride, Clue, Bound, Rocky Horror, Empire Records, and another handful or two. If you have a non-trivial theory why I have a soft spot for movies like Ballistic and Resident Evil, I like you.

Series... typically story-driven or sci fi side of things - think Doctor Who, B5, the later Stargate stuff, Torchwood, Fringe, Dollhouse. I tend to be a bit on the fence about things clearly written for a demographic, but some of them I end up liking a lot, like Warehouse 13 and others I'll remember or admit to later.
I like various anime and a few jdramas, for the different storytelling, different pacing, and the silliness. Nodame is awesome, watch it (the live action if you've a choice).

I read in bursts - three books a month, then none for half a year. For the most part I don't stick to authors. I'm currently working on things like Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and Anais Nin. And the recent Yotsuba :)

last.fm is relatively accurate. My longest-term squee is probably for Amanda Palmer, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Lamb, Garbage, K's Choice, Björk (mostly her nineties stuff), am quite fond of Emilie Autumn.
I seem to have have seasonal cycles through the genres I like.
Disturbing soft spots include bouncy eighties pop and italo disco, and Aqua beyond its use as torture material.

I like my food spicy - Thai, Indian, Indonesian.
My own cooking is improving slowly, a little more so after I broke enough blenders to decide to not buy any more.
I am omnivorous, but cook and eat almost exclusively vegetarian.
The six things I could never do without
Rainstorms. Personal connections sans protocol. My sense of suspended disbelief about reality and my sense of humour about it. Occasional escapist shiny entertainment.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Comfort and discomfort, with yourself and in interactions. Also in relation to being spontaneous - I think this may be relevant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4mH6E0hMbI
Being positive without its cult. Memory. Rationalization. Shirked issues. Creativity. How society might work with fewer misunderstandings. Real and artificial intelligence. Deviance and dark sides.

Whether it wouldn't be more informative to list some of our sharp edges - compatibile demons, less profile polishing, and all that. But then, incompatibilities are highly subjective so it's hard to find useful words... Whether okc's matching is a off because of the low-hanging-fruit questions. Whether it make sense to list casual sex or not.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've got a not-yet-very-expored kinky side.

Generally, I answer people, not sites. Ask - I'm really quite open once I trust you're weird as well.
You should message me if
interest outweighed worry ^^
