My self-summary
Charming, self-effacing. Curious. Goofy, but serious when it matters. I value experiences over things.

I am quiet and somewhat shy. But with the right kind of person I'm quick to open up. I live in this weird in-between place where I'm both an extrovert and an introvert.

I would love to be nudged out of my comfort zone. I'm more adventurous in theory than in practice. But I'm up for almost anything.

I'm more of a city person than super-outdoorsy, but I do like to get out sometimes. Also, as much of a cliché as it is, I really do like long walks on the beach.

I am itching to travel. The last big trip was to Spain about a decade ago.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as a designer (schmelvetica, get it?). I work for a Very Large Company at the moment. Take a guess.

I dabble in music. It's an ongoing process of learning to be okay with where I am, which is that I'm not so good at it.

I also volunteer with The Link Program, a series of art/design workshops for high school students. It's so fun and inspiring. I wish I could be that fearless creatively.

Working on perfecting my bread-baking skills.
I’m really good at
Cooking — I love to cook for others.

Making terrible puns. Bonus points if you laugh at these.

Memorizing useless stuff. With the exception of sports (of which I know nothing), I would do great on trivia nights.

The first things people usually notice about me
Glasses? Beard? I'm a pretty quiet person, so I feel like people don't notice me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I tend to read non-fiction over fiction. I've been reading Sugar, Salt, Fat which is eye-opening and somewhat depressing. Also reading Nicholson Baker, who has a way of describing the most mundane things with the most beautiful language.

Movies: I like documentaries of all kinds. Generally more into quirky indie movies than Hollywood fare, but I'm not above enjoying a big dumb action flick every once in a while. I used to be nuts about Hal Hartley until he lost his way...

Music: I love KEXP. Specific bands: Boards of Canada, Tame Impala, and My Bloody Valentine. Also, Stereolab, Air, Radiohead...

TV: Archer, Steven Universe, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. And lately, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee is one of the best things out there.

I listen to a ton of podcasts, including Radiolab, This American Life and several Maximum Fun podcasts (major bonus points if you do too)

Food: Almost everything is good: Thai, Japanese, Indian, Ethiopian, dim sum. I love a good burger too.
The six things I could never do without
The internets (sad but true)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to be a better person in this world.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably watching TV. We should go out instead.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Elbow. It's a weird word.
