My self-summary
I can summarize my philosophy on life into three words: SCIENCE, TRUTH, AND BEAUTY.

Nothing fascinates me more than understanding how something works. I carry this interest into all aspects of my life, but my main focus is the brain! Such an amazing organ that we still know so little about, yet it's everything we know ourselves to be! "If the brain were so simple we could understand it, then we'd be so simple we couldn't."

You've heard the saying, "Honesty is the best policy." Well, I'd much rather know than not know. With that being said, I would have definitely taken the red pill in The Matrix. Yes it's true, some things are hard to swallow, but knowing the truth is better than living a lie. I carry this idea into all aspects of my life whether it be work, friendships, relationships, and religion.

I love experiencing breathtaking things for the first time. There's nothing quite like that rush from jumping out of a plane, or diving naked into a random lake at the top of the Rocky Mountains, or reaching the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, or having The American Falls (at Niagara) crash on top of you. But there's also something beautiful and sweet about revisiting those experiences with someone special, and making it a tradition.

That's me in a nutshell. I'd love to know what makes you tick, be brutally honest with each other and be ok with that, and share some amazingly beautiful experiences together. Everything else is gravy.
What I’m doing with my life
There's that silly word that's being used frequently these days. What is it again? Oh yes, "YOLO."

The idea of "You only live once" isn't a new one, and although it's been made popular again, I still don't think people are grasping the concept of it.

The more I've studied and learned about Biology, Astronomy, Philosophy, and History, the more I've found out that our lives are completely and utterly insignificant. Don't be confused. By insignificant, I mean in the grand scheme of things.

Our lives are only significant to us, to others around us, and right now! That means that we need to take that ol' saying YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE seriously, not as a joke to do random shit in the fountains of shopping malls.

That's currently what I'm doing with my life. I'm living it. I'm taking seriously the thought of this life being the only one I have. The luxury of an afterlife isn't one that I can afford.

So what say you? Will you join me on an adventure in this crazy beautiful chaotic thing called life?

"Life's better with company. Everyone needs a co-pilot." - Up in the Air
I’m really good at
I will challenge you to think differently. I will question why you do certain things the way you do. We will have intense conversations that some might mistaken as arguments. We will both grow as individuals.

Otherwise, what's the fucking point?
The first things people usually notice about me
"That tall thin nice white guy with the beard and glasses." That's how people tend to describe me at first.

After you get to know me I end up being, "That funny, adventurous, atheistic, vegetarian, tall thin nice white guy with the beard and glasses."
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books? The book I'm currently reading is The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac. I'm enjoying it very much.

Movies? That's so hard. Off the top of my head Inception, Big Fish, Hero, Fight Club, Sin City, Eternal Sunshine.

Shows? Always Sunny, House md, Futurama, Game of Thrones (the red wedding *sad face*), Home Movies, Archer.

Music? Stuff like Incubus, Interpol, The Strokes. But I really like stuff from all genres. Although I'm not really into hip hop and r&b all that much.

Food? I love food! However, I eat mostly vegetarian cuisine. Which means I tend to cook a lot. LET'S MAKE SOME VEGAN DISHES TOGETHER!
Six things I could never do without
Fruits, veggies, and tortillas!

Epic road trips.

Hiking adventures that challenge the body and mind.

My family, who's always been there for me.

Biology, Astronomy, Philosophy, History. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Am I living my life to the fullest? Am I doing it as Frank Sinatra did it, my way? Or am I just living to work instead of working to live?

Which makes me think of this musical lyric from that one song...

"We were meant to live for so much more. Have we lost ourselves?"

Disclaimer* Yes I know that's a Switchfoot lyric and they're a Christian band. I still enjoy the concept of what they said.
On a typical Friday night I am
If I had anything to say about it, I would be sitting around the fire pit having a drink with my favorite people. No doubt having an interesting philosophical conversation about life and planning our next epic adventure. Then afterwards maybe go for a walk on the beach at night and just enjoy the stars and sand between our toes.

Otherwise, I like to just relax at home and watch a movie!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm an open book. ASK ME ANYTHING.
You should message me if
I'm passed that point of conventional thinking. I desire a mind that's free from the chains of modern society. I need a "soul" that wants to roam free and wild. I want to be able to inspire you and be inspired by you. I crave a passion that's both intense and kind. Tear down my walls, strip me of my armor, and make me completely vulnerable!

Sometimes you just have to say "Fuck it." and put yourself out there.

Send me a message and we can set up a small adventure, together, and enjoy the day!
