My self-summary
My name is Seamus (pronounced Shaymus), and yes I'm Irish-American (someone asked, so I had to clarify).
Let's see, what is there to say about myself? I'm too nice for my own good according to some. I love my eclectic set of hobbies, and probably spend a little bit too much time on them (although I gotta say I do love being able to shuffle a deck of cards with one hand... admittedly not the most useful skill). Most photographs of me come out terribly, I tend to prefer the handful of me actually doing stuff. While I rarely have time for it, I love to draw, and have been told I'm pretty good at it; I'll let you judge for yourself.
(If you'd like to see the rest of the art I have up send me a message and I'll send you the link and password.)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently finishing up a degree in political science at UMBC. I'm currently interning in the US Senate, and looking to get a job on the Hill in the near future.
I’m really good at
Drawing, singing, talking politics, cooking, sailing(discounting that one time I flipped the sailboat over backwards... still not sure how the hell I pulled that off), flying stunt kites(admittedly I crash them too often), writing, doing one-handed card flourishes, and being random.
The first things people usually notice about me
If I haven't had a haircut recently... my hair, it tends to go *poof* when it gets long. Other than that I don't know, people haven't really mentioned anything. If I had to guess, the first thing one might notice are my glasses.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love reading anything by Orson Scott Card (Personal favorites include: Xenocide, Children of The Mind, and Empire), Stephen King, Terry Pratchett, Tom Clancy (The books can actually take me at least a day to finish which is a plus, my favorite is Executive Orders), and really anything with words, punctuation, and a plot.

I like action, comedy and adventure movies. Anything by Mel Brooks is golden.

As far as music goes, I tend to stick to rock. Anything from 1960 through today, that has good vocals is fine. Specifically I'm a fan of Third Eye Blind, The Crash Motive, Mark Knopfler, some of the new Linkin Park, SR-71, Better than Ezra, J. R. Richards, Dishwalla, Jimmy Eat World, Dave Matthews Band and the list goes on and on and on.

Then we come to food... I like food. As long as its good and tasty I am normally pretty happy. I love Thai food, and homemade Chinese. I love to cook, even if I don't get the chance to do so often. For me, the more complicated the recipe, and the better the ingredients, the better the food. My personal favorites are Grilled Beef Teriyaki with homemade Teriyaki glaze, and homemade chipotle style burritos.

As far as drinks go, I like a lot of things, but I don't generally drink that much; this is primarily because my tastes are kinda pricey. I like wine, particularly Cabernet Sauvignons, Pinot Noirs, and Syrahs. I like some beer, particularly some darker beers. Then there's my favorite category, rum. I don't drink Captain, or Bacardi. I'm a fan of most aged sipping rums, preferably those aged 12 years or more. My personal favorites are Appleton 12 yr, El Dorado 15 yr, Barbencourt 15 yr, and Cruzan Single Barrel Estate. As I said before, I like my rum... but I don't drink too much of it, rarely more than a couple of drinks in any given week.
Six things I could never do without
1) Life
2) The ability to sing
3) The ability to draw
4) My family
5) Caffeine (preferably at least 3 shots of espresso)
6) The Lake (ask me about it sometime)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Stuff... and... and... things. Also the occasional foray into politics, random science things, and the future.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either hanging out around the house, or hanging out with friends whether its at a bar or at someone's house doesn't really matter.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have pulled all-nighters reading books for fun, and have had people look at me funny for laughing out loud at novels.

I brought snacks to an eclipse, and sat outside for two hours (from 2:00-4:00 AM) in below freezing temperatures... it was awesome!
You should message me if
You like being a little random, enjoy art or singing. If you're a fan of hanging around watching movie/reading/singing/messing around with guitars, or are a fan of bonfires. Also if you think we have anything in common I'd be happy to hear about it. If you'd like to find out how I flipped a sailboat over backwards. Finally, proper grammar is a big plus, I don't mind emoticons, lol, and the occasional abbreviation... but it's easier to read a message when it's well written.
