My self-summary
Really nice guy looking for a girl. Probably work too hard and need time to myself but otherwise, presentable, friendly, able to function in a wide range of social circumstances from the local boozer to the opera (watch/listen not sing - don't make me sing, you wouldn't like me when I sing).

I am smart, funny, and quiet
What I’m doing with my life
Really enjoying work - strange but true! I enjoy the challenges thrown up and work with a lot of really bright, creative and funny people. of course their is the usual nonsense but that seems par for the course. My employer has agreed to fund a Masters and I am looking forward to starting that in September/October. Right now I am putting off getting together the reading list and starting in on it so i can start off ahead of the game.

I have also signed up to run the London Marathon for a children's charity. A friend (!) talked me into it. I am alternately impressed with myself (to be honest a little smug), confused at the unsuspected depths of insanity I have shown and horrified at myself - I may never speak to him again.
I’m really good at
Thinking strategically/problem solving. I do this all day at work so tend to avoid such things as crossword puzzles and suddoko (really please don't bother if you expect me to understand/join in - the best I can offer is amused/bemused tolerance).

Oh and I am really (no kidding expert) at taking things easy. I do work hard and I like to relax.
The first things people usually notice about me
mm tricky

Socially I tend to start quiet and grow on people, I guess my sense of humour.

Professionally I am confident. I usually believe I can help clients get to an answer or find it for them.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Recent favourites include Propaganda by Edward Bernays (written in the 20s anyone in marketing should read this as soon as possible) and Public opinion by Walter Lipman (another 20s classic). I love sci-fi (like Honor Harrington books, and the whole WH40k thing - so dark, gothic it rocks!).

Movies: Action, War, Vampire movies (just watched the whole Underworld set again), Sci fi recently saw Avatar (great!), also soft spot for chic flicks . . .

Music: Really eclectic - actually like what i grew up with Zeppelin, Clapton et al, soul, easygoing as long as you don't want me to listen to euphoria/trance whatever (except as some kinky torture I suppose?)

Food:My special subject. A friend (acquaintance really) once accused me of having "peasant tastes, truely cosmopolitan* but peasant tastes". For me it really is a matter of preference. I don't understand celery but will eat it without complaining to be polite.

* I think he meant international
Six things I could never do without
1. books (I love to read sci-fi, political thrillers and, scarily, work related books - marketing, behaviour change theory)
2. bed (or should that be sleep? on balance prefer to sleep in bed but will sleep in cars, trains, sofas if absolutely necessary)
3. sea (don't go as often as I might so perhaps that's more of a fantasy self image)

does three make me low maintenance or just a bloke?
I spend a lot of time thinking about

really i kid you not!

On a typical Friday night I am
Sad to say right now its staying in, reading or movie and doing the household chores.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Boy next door type but not entirely vanilla in my tastes.
