My self-summary
I'm always looking for the next adventure or experiment. Most of my adventures these days tend to center around travel or food.

When it comes to travel, I tend to avoid the tours and traps, preferring instead to get into the culture, meet and socialize with the locals, or simply get lost. The perfect trip would involve somewhere with surfing, diving, hiking, and great food and wine nearby... and some great company.

In the kitchen, I'm always experimenting - trying to find a new twist or technique that will hopefully surprise. Sometimes my experiments work fabulously. Sometimes, my experiments fail miserably - I've usually got a frozen pizza at the ready just in case.

A number of my friends would describe me as having an easygoing personality and a relatively high EQ. I enjoy being social and active - my friends are my extended family. I'm looking for somebody who's excited for the next adventure or experiment. She would ideally be somewhat impulsive and more interested in being in the water with me rather than watching from the shore at least metaphorically. Ideally she'd also be somebody who would be comfortable telling me to get the pizza out of the freezer when she feels the experiment has clearly gone awry.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm very laid back and patient, but also get excited about both the things I'm interested in as well as the things that others are excited about.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I'm slowly working my way through the "Modernist Cuisine" books. Norman Mailer was my favorite author for a long time, but he's not going to be producing new material any time soon - I still have angst that at the end of the 1,282 pages or the book "Harlot's Ghost", he wrote "To be continued"... and it never was. I also have a healthy sampling of technology and process related books.

TV: Family Guy, Anthony Bourdain, Top Chef, Iron Chef, Hell's Kitchen, The Voice, Mythbusters, GoT. I'm really not into televised sports.

Music: Miles Davis, Tool, DJ Shadow, Jay-Z, Depeche Mode, Gérard Grisey, LMFAO - I'm pretty much all over the map.

Food: Pretty much anything (including offal) except beef stroganoff - there's just something I find unappealing about that particular combination of beef, noodles, mushrooms, and cream.
On a typical Friday night I am
socializing with friend over dinner or a few drinks, finding a new (to me) local band that might be good, or sometimes just reading a good book in a coffee shop.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a strange aversion to raw untreated wet wood, which means I cringe when I see people licking their coffee stir sticks.
