My self-summary
I have lived in Brooklyn for 13 years now but have tried to hang on to my midwest friendliness. I come from a large extended family and they are very important to me. I only get home a few times a year, but I am still close with all of them. I've been very lucky to stumble upon a job I love that also allows me the freedom to take off and travel for longer periods of time than most. I would love to work less and travel more, ideally with a like minded partner. In the past few years I've gone on several yoga retreats in various spots and become a bit addicted to surf lessons. I've taken quite a few now and am at the point where I should stop taking lessons and just go out on my own, but I'm still a little bit skittish.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in TV & film as an assistant set decorator. This means I spend big chunks of my time scouting furniture and shopping to gather all the bits to make the sets authentic. The shopping bit can be a bit trying after a while, but it is a pretty swell job. It's rarely boring and I enjoy being able to help create all the different environments. Also we shoot in lots of different places, so it's fun to see all the different ways people live in the city.
I’m really good at
I am good with directions--be it when walking about on foot, driving or just pointing a lost person in the right direction...
i have been told that i am adept at making people laugh, though i was also recently asked whether my snarky sense of humor has gotten me into trouble at work... as far as i know, it has not...
i'm decent at roller skating, but my backward skating ability has greatly diminished since the elementary school days
The first things people usually notice about me
I suppose my green eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I haven't been reading as much as i would like to lately, but I always like nick hornby, kurt vonnegut, paulo coelho, john irving, and haruki murakami...

amelie, goonies, the princess bride, almost famous, gross pointe blank, wet hot american summer, eternal sunshine...breaking bad, father ted, arrested development, lost, party down, downton abbey, true detective, game of thrones

Caffeine-be it either coffee or diet coke# update, I have given up diet coke
Good music to listen to

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where to go on vacation next
What i should be doing, instead of procrastinating
If I'm burning out on the endless frantic pace of NYC or maybe I just need a visit to the country...
On a typical Friday night I am
generally, gathering with friends for dinner, movie, party or some other type of merry-making... or cozied up on the couch unwinding and watching netflix
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i was once a carni... not an actual traveling fair carni with small hands or anything, but like in adventureland at an amusement park bamboozling children for their money in exchange for crummy prizes
You should message me if
You think we would get along, have a laugh and enjoy each others company

or would be willing to help me learn to surf better...

Also if you are able to type out sentences with actual words, not letters. If you don't have the time to type out an actual word, don't be surprised if I don't respond... Maybe I'm just being fussy, but for some reason it bothers me.
