Things not in my profile info; I was born on a shit hole of an army base. Ft. Polk Louisiana (my parents will make fun of me for that until they/I die. As if I had a choice in the matter...) I have lived in 8 states and and 2 foreign countries and the longest I ever stayed in one place was 4 years for highschool. With that as an outlier, I generally live somewhere between 3 months and 2 years before I move. I lived in LA for. January of 2015 till November '16 and plan to go back there and put down some roots next year.
If you have any questions for me or suggestions of info I should add to my profile please dont hesitate to let me know. I have just gotten back to using OKC after a little over a year off, so I might be a bit rusty at this...
I play a lot of video games... potentially unhealthy amount of video games (kidding, I swear, maybe). RPGs mostly (lots of fallout 4) and some competitive games like League of Legends. I really want to get back into table top gaming (love me some D&D 3.5 and pathfinder. Would KILL to find people to play a runequest (not run escape, very different games) campaign with.
I don't know, there was a point in my life where I didn't think I wasn't good at anything, but that passed and now I'm trying to figure out what I actually am good at.
I'm really good at having conversations digitally... If I have a second to put my thoughts together and form a response then I can be very eloquent...
Telling people that everything is okay and to not worry about things so much.
I'm going to start off with, I haven't seen a lot of movies. Like a lot of movies that everyone should see whether they like that style of movie or not. Fucking classics... Probably haven't seen it... I am a big Stanley Kubrick fan though, and Tarantino, but I'm lacking there too... I find that I'm hyper critical when it comes to most movies, it's hard to find a movie that I think is so good that I can look past technicalities and such. Movies I do like though. Full Metal Jacket, Donnie Darko, SLC Punk, Pulp Fiction, Dr. Strangelove, In Bruges. Dark comedies rub me the right way generally.
I watch even less TV. Due to one circumstance or another I have not had cable in my house for the majority of my life and so TV isn't important to me. But Trailer Park Boys is hysterical... so there's that... Game Of Thrones (of course, amirite?) Silicon Valley is pretty funny, I've also lived in the bay area so seeing places I recognize is always cool
Books, books, books, I don't read as much as I used to, which is disappointing really... but I love Cormac McCarthy books. Especially The Road. I've read Crime and Punishment a couple times. I'd have to say The Short-timers is pretty much my favorite book thus-far, too bad it's out of print...
I have started reading comic books recently. I started off by barreling through the Sandman series. Which is a must read as far as I'm concerned. I followed that by demolishing Wasteland which is another series that I HIGHLY recommend. Currently I am slowly working my way through the many many issues of the INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US series, by DC. It's pretty darned good. The Joker pisses off Superman so much that he tries to install a "world wide ceasefire" and then tries to enforce it. It divides the DC universe between people who support what and how Superman is enforcing his policy and those opposed to it. Some really good Batman v Superman stuff going on, all pre the recent(ish) movie.
Music is a weird one, there is no way to generalize what I listen to. I listen to Modest Mouse, (just saw MM in concert for the first time at the forum) Phish, The Pixies, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Lot's of different dubstep producers (older ones mostly), The Pogues, Kid Cudi, Tool, S.O.A.D., The Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, FOLK PUNK (anything that Pat the Bunny has been apart of, The Ghostmice, AJJ) Jack Johnson, The Talking Heads, and so on to all over the place... Like I said... I don't really know how to categorize my music taste.
FOOD, I'll eat anything pretty much. I will definitely try anything. I've eaten chicken hearts, they were gross. My favorite food is sushi, just about any kind minus softshell crab, and if the eel is on the outside of the roll I've found that I'm not the biggest fan... I feel like this is so common it's almost cliché, but I seriously eat a lot of sushi and almost always go out for really good sushi for my birthday or any excuse I can find. I'm quite good at eating portions of sushi that are advertised as "family size"
