My self-summary
Greetings and salutations. My name is Matthew, Pokémon Master in training and proud member of Ravenclaw house. I like to think I am one of those "all round nice guys" that you hear about, so if you are missing one of those from your arsenal of friends feel free to get in touch.

I am a board game nut (much to most of my friends' chagrin), a big animal lover and can always be found with either a book or pokémon game in hand. Buy me a good hot chocolate and I shall love you forever. Trade for baked goods? I spend a lot of time with my beloved kitchenaid whipping up something tasty and oh-so-sinful.

I dislike going out to places where you have to shout just to have a conversation, poor spelling really grates on me and I abhor being called Matt (I don't even know why!).
What I’m doing with my life
Currently a PhD student in the general field of Systems Biology, though I shan't bore you with the details!

In an ideal world I would be able to go back to undergrad and study Veterinary Medicine, but bar me winning the lottery (or getting a seriously rich sugar daddy) this is not likely, so I find myself adrift in a sea of not-so-appealing options.
I’m really good at
Reading - I am one of those who will sit and read a book cover to cover, often not realising the time.

Watching TV - I have been known to sit for over 24 hours straight in the midst of a marathon. Sci-Fi marathons are the best.

Baking - though I am pretty clumsy, so at least one kitchen disaster is bound to happen every time.
The first things people usually notice about me
My glasses. Followed by my piercing gaze behind the lenses.

Possibly my height, or rather my lack of it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books are far too many to list. I read all the time. I tend to read a lot of fiction aimed at teenagers rather than more "hard hitting" stuff, which I guess says a lot about me. My favourite series would have to be the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde, but the few people I have convinced to read them don't seem to share my view.

Movies are also too many to list. I have a passion for foreign cinema, mainly because I love foreign languages, so can often be found watching French and Japanese movies. I am pretty easy going when it comes to subject matter though: rom-coms, sci-fi, fantasy, musicals, kids films, gay cinema... I tend to steer clear of horror and gore, mainly because they are generally all the same, and I much prefer being able to sleep with ease.

TV wise, I watch a lot of American stuff: Arrested Development, Archer, Buffy & Angel, Parks & Recreation, Once Upon A Time, Weeds, GILMORE GIRLS... This list could go on a while. Recently started rewatching The Tribe (does anyone remember that?!) which is equal parts awful and amazing. A big fan of More4. Sci-fi, as ever, is a big part of my life. BSG is just epic, DW (new and old) rocks! Anyone who loves Twin Peaks get in touch ^.^

Love a good bit of anime. My joint favourites are Bleach and Cardcaptor Sakura (I know, rather different!) but I love all different kinds. Obviously Pokémon and Digimon are up there, as is Fairy Tail, Tsubasa Chronicles, xxxHolic, Code Geass (far too much CLAMP!).
Six things I could never do without
My kitchenaid.
My pets.
My board game collection (getting bigger by the day).
My friends.
The internet.
Love (so corny).

In no particular order of course.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Tactics for surviving a zombie apocalypse/a Battle Royale situation.
On a typical Friday night I am
Badgering my friends to play board games with me, watching some Japanese anime or reading.

Did I mention that I am kind of lame?
You should message me if
You feel the desire to. I respond to everyone.
