My self-summary
I'm a very curious person and I like knowing how things work. Music is a huge part of my life, but I do have lots of other interests. I play drums in a 90s rock band for fun and yes I actually do play the sitar. I work in the concert industry so I spend a lot of time going to shows, sometimes for work and sometimes for fun.

Over the last couple of years I have become a fairly avid distance runner and I try to sign up for a couple of half marathons each year. At some point I plan to run the NYC Marathon. I enjoy cooking dinner at home sometimes and I read a lot, particularly books on science or business. I also go to a lecture series at the Natural History Museum. Neil deGrasse Tyson may or may not be my favorite person in the world. Like everybody else, I love to travel and have been to some interesting places around the world. Recently returned from an expedition to Antarctica and yes it was as awesome as it sounds.
What I’m doing with my life
I work for a performing arts organization during the day and on the side occasionally work various concerts/events. If I could go to a concert every night I would never get bored for the rest of my life!
I’m really good at
Learning to play instruments, not getting lost, remembering things, and a myriad of other odd skills with few practical applications
The first things people usually notice about me
I am very happy all the time :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a lot of non fiction books. Some of my favorite writers are Michael Lewis, Richard Thaler, Malcolm Gladwell, Richard Dawkins and of course Neil deGrasse Tyson

Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Caddy Shack, My Cousin Vinny, Amadeus, Lean on Me, Bad Santa, Spinal Tap, Princess Bride

TV: Cosmos, Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory, Last Week Tonight, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and anything on Food Network.

I listen to a lot of different genres of music from around the world. Some all time favorites are The Beatles, Phish, The Band, Bruce Springsteen, Led Zeppelin, Simon & Garfunkel, Mozart, John Coltrane, Alan Menken, John Williams scores and Irshad Khan (my sitar guru). More recent favorites are Tame Impala, Alabama Shakes, Flaming Lips, Dr. Dog, Moon Taxi, Anoushka Shankar, Oliver Mtukudzi, Azam Ali

Favorite food is definitley mac and cheese. I also love appetizers at Japanese restaurants.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order:

Live music
A book
A hot tub
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What it would feel like to fall into a black hole
On a typical Friday night I am
During the concert season I'm usually seeing and/or working a show. Occasionally it's nice to just come home after a week, go for a long run and cook something nice for dinner while catching up on some reading and practicing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When it's hot outside I often wear a bathing suit around the house.
You should message me if
You're a fun, intelligent girl that has her life together and wants to go out with a smart, talented guy. It would be helpful if you have at least a mild interest in music since it is a big part of who I am.

I think sending a bunch of messages online is a waste of time. What is the point of having an online dating profile if you don't actually want to meet people in person. If you think I look interesting send me a message and lets grab a drink sometime! I can afford a couple hours to meet up and see if we hit it off.
