My self-summary
I'm nine months from forty. The number itself is-or at least used to be-scary. However, at this point, the reality of approaching the "dreaded" 4-0 is exciting. Nobody tells you when you're growing up how liberating "getting old" is. I know who I am, and I'm too preoccupied with living to care much about people who have an issue with it.

I teach high school English and public speaking, and I love it. Beyond that, all I care about is art, music, film, books, watching baseball, playing tennis, and learning about history. These things make me happy. They make my hairs stand on end. They set me on fire. Life's too short to settle for less.

The San Francisco dating scene can be very fun, but it can also get tedious and almost seem like work at times. I'm looking for someone that is passionate about the arts, happy, and down to earth. Dating should be fun, but at some point I'd like to withdraw from the dating pool/meat market that is SF online dating.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm lucky that I get paid to read, teach, write about, and discuss amazing books for a living. I also teach public speaking, which is great fun.
I’m really good at
Naming pub trivia teams
Random knowledge about music, 80s movies, sports, and foods that start with the letter q.
The first things people usually notice about me
Reddish beard vs. brownish hair.

Food: Almost everything
Plays: Jerusalem is still the best play I've ever seen. However, I just saw The Crucible on Broadway, and it was amazing.
The six things I could never do without
Writing, music, books, coffee, good food, and exercise.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The 80s. Were they really that great, or is it just because I was viewing them through the rose-colored glasses of a child? I mean, Real Genius couldn't have been THAT great a movie, could it? Wait, I know the answer to that question.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm usually trying to rally to go out. San Francisco is a pretty amazing city, so I try to take advantage of it. I mean, I could watch Two and a Half Men while gorging on Corn Chips anywhere, right?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
NICE TRY, OKCUPID.
You should message me if
You want to meet up for a drink, a laugh, and marriage within 6-8 months. (kidding!)
