My self-summary
Gah - time for another update; I'm now remembering how much I hate writing about myself.
I'm a 28 yr old doctor, and after 5 years of university I'm having to cope with stresses such as actually working for a living. I can be little shy/self-conscious, you know blah blah the standard rubbish that's on most peoples profiles. I have a bit of an odd sense of humour. I like listening to music, politics, real ale, wasting time on the internet, MTG and playing RPGs. I'm also a bass guitarist (but not very good one). I play video games quite a lot when I have time to waste. I'm definitely a bit of a geek. I'd consider myself to be open-minded and liberal.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a registrar in anaesthesia in Manchester. I largely involves using high tech gizmos and cool drugs to keep people asleep/alive.

Like most junior doctors I get the "but you look too young to be a doctor" thing quite regularly - this is ten times as bad when the patients are 90 and you look 14 (edit - I must look at least 25 now as they've stopped IDing me in Tesco).
I’m really good at
I can't think there's much I'm really good at. If the box asked what I'm really bad at I could be here for hours (or maybe decades). I guess I'm quite good at sciences, maths and knowing really random and useless facts. Oh, and being a little wierd. I like to think I'm becoming ok at medicine, but you'd sort of hope that I would be at this stage.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't know. Think about the first thing YOU noticed about me. Its probably that.

Actually, I have quite large ears. Otherwise probably not that much to notice.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - anything by Terry Pratchett or Michael Moore, Harry Potter, the Private Eye Annual, some random fantasy/sci-fi, the BMJ.
Movies - I like Sci-fi and action films, but to be honest I'll watch anything thats half-decent
Music - mainly rock + some metal, I particually like Red Hot Chili Peppers, also Muse, SOAD, Foo Fighters, Korn, Kaiser Chiefs, Ash, Evanescence, Paramore, Rage Against the Machine, Velvet Revolver and Guns and Roses, oh and also Zombina and the Skeletones because they're just fantastic live.
Food - anything sweet - like chocolate, ice cream - oh and I like pancakes
TV - Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, Star Trek (especially DS9), BSG, Firefly, Scrubs
Games - Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, GTA, also enjoy FPS or RTS. I was a massive fan of Theme Hospital when I was young.
Websites -,
Six things I could never do without
1) Geekiness
2) My laptop and the XBox/PS2
3) Pancakes and golden syrup
4) Having long hair
5) Alcohol + Caffine
6) *insert inevitable oxygen joke here*
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Well, being male, I'll let you guess. Actually I spend a lot of time thinking about everything and anything - my mind doesn't seem to have a pause button. It does however have a fast forward button.

When I read a news story about some new science or technology I'm convinced we're living in the future.
When I read a news story about the social problems we still live with or the prevalent moral and political beliefs of the nation, I'm convinced we're living in the past.
On a typical Friday night I am
Often in watching TV or playing computer games. I like going out and getting drunk, but havn't been doing that as often as I'd like recently.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Mmm - there's certainly plenty of things I'd be embarrassed to admit - I'm good at doing stupid things I regret later (and also at not doing sensible things and regreting it later).
That despite the music I've listed above - what I'm actually listening to at this moment is Ke$ha.
You should message me if
No ifs - just message me. I'm frequently bored and always like something to amuse me. You should definately message me if your also a bit of a geek, or if your into sci-fi, computer games, politics (though don't be put off if you arn't - you can talk about any random crap and it'll probably amuse me). Or if OkCupid says were compatible (I have a lot of faith in OkCupid - its matching system has so many fancy mathematical formulas, how can it be wrong?).
