My self-summary
Warm, witty widow. Native New Englander, arrived on the shores of LA a number of years ago via NYC. Am the mother of two grown sons who were raised to be entertaining and most definitely are. An excellent conversationalist, I can be taken anywhere and will be asked back by the grateful hostess. Also adept at listening without interruption. I laugh easily and am intrigued by great drama (have you seen what's on cable lately?), history, and all those cooking shows on the Food Network.
What I’m doing with my life
A former feature film development executive, I work with clients as a story editing consultant. I also write and need my own story editor when I'm stumped. We had to put down our 16 year old dog last November so I am seriously contemplating getting another one. The house is empty without her. I'm enjoying all that great television, the company of friends, the occasional movie, my library books, and my morning walks by the Silver Lake reservoir. And I jump on any opportunity to have a good laugh.
I’m really good at
Writing. Helping writers by advocating for the material. Making others laugh. Cracking myself up. Using my own experience, intuition and powers of observations to gain insight into and understanding of others. Listening. Trivia -- am a game show veteran. Relaxing. Traveling -- I love to fly. Conversation -- I find it easy to talk to just about anyone. Irreverence -- there's humor in just about everything.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes. My wit. My listening skills. My intelligence.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
"The Lovely Bones" by Alice Siebold. All of Somerset Maugham. "The Bean Trees" by Barbara Kingsolver.

"Godfather II". "Tootsie". "The Miracle Worker" -- for a good cry, try the last twenty minutes.

Los Lobos. Elvis Presley. Puccini. All the music from "The Sopranos". Emmy Lou Harris. George Jones.

Thai. Chinese. Japanese. Indian. Mexican. Italian. Okay, regarding food? I'm easy.
Six things I could never do without
My older son. My younger son. My remote. My sense of humor. My favorite pen. Crossword puzzles.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My work. My sons. People I love and have loved. What I'm going to eat for my next meal. What's on tv tonight. Who might be at that party. Where'd I put that library book? Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat? Should I bring my phone charger in case there's an earthquake? Scrambled or boiled?
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with like-minded friends. Except when I'm home reading/playing Words with Friends/surfing the net/laughing at friends' comments on Facebook/watching tv. All at the same time, sometimes. Multi-tasking is exhausting.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I look and act younger than my years.
You should message me if
We have something in common. You have a sense of humor. You're a mensch.
