My self-summary
Hmmm what to say about me?? In no particular order: I'm extremely open-minded; as a result I'm good at seeing both sides of an issue. I'm easy-going and hard to rile but I can be stubborn. I find beauty in nearly every thing. I like meeting new people. I like going out, but if left to myself I'd probably be home. I don't mind being alone; in fact I rather like it. However, I crave interaction with people. I worked retail for about a million years and loved loved loved the customer-service part of my jobs. My friends vary widely in age and type (straight, gay, young, old; I even have online friends I've never met IRL) and I actively seek the different perspectives they bring to my life. I can be extremely irreverent (Flying Spaghetti Monster, anyone?) but this doesn't mean that I don't find reverence in certain ways/places. Karma/Reincarnation makes a lot of sense to me. I love word-play. When dressing, I love to accessorize -- it's rare that I'm seen without some sort of jewelry on. Travel is a fun adventure to me; I've been to lots of places, and there are a lot more I still want to see but be warned: I hate camping. (Since I'm on the subject of things I dislike, I'll also say I'm not a sports fan. And I refuse to eat asparagus.) I love living in a place that has four seasons; I appreciate all of them for different reasons. I'm allergic to dogs (nose gets very stuffy/eyes water); however, I like snakes and mice, and I wouldn't think life was complete without a cat as a pet. [I have four. This was not my plan, but when three starving kittens showed up at my doorstep, I couldn't turn them away although I had one cat already. I honestly did not mean to keep them. Really. I swear.] I think going to the movies is fun, and going to a concert is even better. But almost nothing beats being home reading a really good book.

I am well-read, smiley, and optimistic.
What I’m doing with my life
These days, I am taking stock of what I really want. A good "quality of life", if you will. My parent's influence on my life definitely helped shape this thought process. Our time on earth is not a given, and I really try to search for and hold the good moments, and create them if need be. I am making it a priority to focus on home and friends, and doing stuff I think is fun, such as travel (my passport is up-to-date), and whatever else strikes my fancy -- like dating.
I’m really good at
Proofreading. (Blessing? Curse? I can't decide!) Spelling. Vocabulary. Wrapping presents. I'm also good at seeing many sides of an issue; I could be a mediator.
The first things people usually notice about me
My red hair and smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Hell, I'll read a cereal box if that's all that is around. If I get to choose, it's usually an historical novel or fantasy or sifi. But I don't limit myself to those genres; there's lots and lots I love to read.
Movies: Most anything except horror, or war (although I thought 'The Sixth Sense' was genius, as was 'A Very Long Engagement'). Bonus points if there are subtitles; I prefer to see a movie in the language in which it was originally made.
Shows: Current obsessions are "Game of Thrones", "Walking Dead", "Fear the Walking Dead", "Outlander", "Vikings", and when it was on, "Downton Abbey". I also really like sitcoms "Mom" and "Big Bang Theory". I sometimes binge-watch HGTV when the renovation/decorating shows are on.
Music: Everything. Blues and Bagpipes. Hymns and Hip-hop. Rock and Rap. Show tunes and Metal and Bluegrass and Ambient. The only thing I don't much care for is free-form Jazz.
Food: At home, anything quick, easy, and tasty (unless I have extra time on the weekend, and get inspired). I can go with a good beef filet or a bowl of beans. My favorite ethnic cuisine is Ethiopian, but it's hard to find around here. Whatever, it should hopefully be gluten-free as I have an intolerance to wheat.
Six things I could never do without
Electricity and the wonderful appliances it runs!
Amy's Rice Crust Cheese Pizza (and the extra feta cheese to top it).
A good book.
My cats.
Something pretty to look at.
A comfy bed.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to better organize my home and make it a more lovely place. Also, whether I'll be home to watch 'Jeopardy' or not. ;)
On a typical Friday night I am
Eager to get home for the weekend!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
They really should change the wording on that. The most private thing I'm willing to PUBLICLY admit: I'm not the world's best housekeeper. Bleh.

You want to show me something new? I'm your girl! Inspire me to my best self, and I'll do the same for you. I like to be led rather than lead, but that doesn't mean I don't have opinions or am a doormat. So that means if you have an idea for something fun, I'll likely go along.
