My self-summary
I'm new to the area & interested in meeting new people with similar interests for friendship purposes. Fellow 420-friendly folks are especially desired.

I'm a writer, thinker, and nerd. I'm funny when you least expect it. Perpetually socially awkward, I hate crowds and regularly put my foot in my mouth. It's all part of my charm.

I'm a huge nerd, and I love other nerds. I know very little about science, I'm terrible at math, and I suck at video games as a general rule. However, when it comes to film, television (particularly horror, modern fantasy, and more recently science fiction), and literature (of pretty much any genre that doesn't include Twilight or 50 Shades of Gray), my nerdiness is a force to be reckoned with. I've also recently started learning to play Magic: The Gathering and I enjoy it, so I suppose that's another feather in my nerd cap. I'm interested in tabletop RPGs as well, but haven't really had the opportunity to get involved.

I will be the first person to call myself fat. It's taken me a long time, but I'm cool with it. Super skinny people scare me.

I read constantly and write frequently -- poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. I am attracted to other creative types, but not people who take themselves too seriously.

I love words, food, music, nerds, fat girls, good weed, and autumn days.

The first things people usually notice about me
The most common replies to this seem to be my eyes, my lips, and my unconventional sense of humor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I have a deep love for Stephen King and hope to eventually own a copy of everything he's published. My collection just broke 50 books, which puts me at about 3/4 of the way complete on his current catalog. I can outnerd just about anyone on The Dark Tower series (except perhaps King himself). I read voraciously, though, and my library extends well past my King collection. Other favorites include Nick Hornby, Elizabeth Berg, Alice Sebold, Oscar Wilde, J.K. Rowling, as well as a fair few poetry anthologies. I'm trying to broaden my horizons to some more sci-fi and fantasy, as well.

Movies: It would take me about 3 hours to compose an exhaustive list of titles, but I love horror (both "legitimate" and stupid B movies), stoner comedies (especially anything from Kevin Smith and, to a lesser extent, Judd Apatow), black comedies (think the original Death at a Funeral -- not the remake), animated family movies, the Harry Potter series, the Cornetto trilogy, romantic comedies that aren't too formulaic, and dramas that make me think but aren't overly long. I have a pretty short attention span.

Music: You must really want to be here all day.

Shows: Without Netflix and Hulu, I would pretty much shrivel and die. I watch television the way most nerds play video games -- for hours and hours at a time. My all-time favorite TV shows are as follows (in no particular order): Boy Meets World, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who, Firefly, Spaced, and Supernatural. I also love 30 Rock, Criminal Minds, How I Met Your Mother, Parks & Recreation, Wilfred, as well as cooking, paranormal, and true crime shows. I have a HUGE girl-boner for British television in general (I actually wrote a blog about the subject for a little while), and I adore Black Books, The Inbetweeners, Red Dwarf, The Catherine Tate Show, and many others.

. . . after hitting "save", I looked at my edit again and realized that, in spite of saying "in no particular order" I totally put my list of shows in alphabetical order. It was completely unintentional and I'm kind of impressed with myself that I could do that without even thinking about it.

Food: I hate sweet potatoes. Pretty much everything else is fair game.
Six things I could never do without
1. books
2. my fiance
3. netflix, a television, and an internet connection
4. my phone
5. a back scratcher (I have a perpetually itchy back)
6. weed
7. nerdy men with beards
8. sexy fat girls

I don't like arbitrary limitations.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Wondering how yarn is made. Wondering what I'll be doing in 10 minutes or 10 years. Daydreaming about running away with The Doctor.
On a typical Friday night I am
Eating dinner with my fiance & arguing with him that I'm still not good enough at Magic to go to Friday Night Magic. Hopefully getting blazed.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am completely and inexplicably grossed out by eyeballs and freaked out by adults with braces. I also rarely actually use the word "freaked" . . . message me if you're curious about my alternative.

I have a major thing for guys with facial hair. I won't say it's an absolute necessity because that would be shallow, but it's definitely a preference. Ink is also a big plus.
You should message me if
You also wonder how yarn is made. You are 420 friendly. You like to nerd out about Doctor Who, Buffy, Supernatural, or The Dark Tower series (or any of the other cool things I mentioned). You enjoy playing Magic, D&D or similar games and can be patient with a noob as she learns (or continues learning) the ropes. You think I might be fun to talk to (I usually am) or that I'm extremely attractive. You're pretty funny. You're a sexy nerdy person who likes sexy fat nerdy chicks. You know of something fun to do in Lafayette. You are a reasonably intelligent person and you know how to spell (at least for the most part), and also the basic rules of grammar.

Note: the only one of these that's actually required is the last one.
