My self-summary
Really laid back person who finished school in Eugene I'm 2011 (go Ducks!), and now is working in the Portland area. From McMinnville, so a native Oregonian, and FINALLY have gotten a decent handle on what's up in Portland.

Besides work, which keeps me fairly busy, I can usually be found doing something outdoors with my Coonhound Bailey, or grabbing a good pint with friends! Very passionate soccer and college football fan, avid reader of books, and always trying out new recipes from around the world. I'm more than passionate about a few topics out there in the world, not limited to: gender rights/equality, mental illness and awareness, animal rights and the ethical treatment of animals, various issues in the Muslim world, and Orcas. Yes, Orca whales. They're pretty amazing. If you have things to say or teach me about those topics, let's chat. Right now.

While it's safe to say overall I'm up for debate and the introduction of new ideas/perspectives, I'll always (and vocally, at that) stand up for what I believe to be right. I'm honest and very sarcastic often times, but never to the point of rudeness. Curious to learn more about Portland, Oregon, and the world; partner in crime for such an adventure is a necessity.

I really dig intelligence, I think it's one of the most attractive things about a person. If you can strike a good conversation with me and teach me something new, I'm hooked. Honesty and respect are quite important as well; never would want me nor the other individual to feel they couldn't be themselves. Positivity is a huge plus as well; if you strike a good attitude most days, I dig that. Huge plus if you're passionate about the world we live in. I love people who hold such high levels of dedication and energy towards a variety of topics, and am always up for learning something new via a good discussion.
What I’m doing with my life
Graduated from the University of Oregon in March 2011 with two majors, Religious Studies and Medieval Studies. However life is a bit strange and funny, so now I find myself as an accountant for a rather large property company in the Portland area! Enjoying it at the moment, though I still plan on going to graduate school at some point in my future. Definitely want to engage myself in charity work abroad sometime again; last visit to Turkey (2011), was able to do so with the Red Crescent and was an unforgettable experience! Always am involved in charity work stateside, but to experience that in a foreign land was something else!
I’m really good at
Talking and creating a connection with someone, making those around me laugh or smile, cooking Baklava (no, really, I am!), and being open to completely new and random adventures!
The first things people usually notice about me
My laugh, apparently quite loud and boisterous
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
At the moment I'm swinging two books at once: one titled 'From Beirut to Jerusalem', and another titled 'People Who Eat Darkness'. Both have been pretty fascinating reads so far. All time favorites for books would have to include The Great War for Civilization, Lord of the Rings, the Stranger, Maus, the Hobbit, In Cold Blood, the Watchmen, Into Thin Air, To Kill a Mockingbird, Kite Runner...list goes on and on. I will NEVER stop reading, nor get tired of a good new (or old) novel, and it always shocks me when people simply state that they don't enjoy it or "it's boring". Nonsense.

Television is a bit hit and miss for me, as I haven't had cable for over a year now, but I LOVE HBO. True Detective, Ricky Gervais Show, Deadwood, The Sopranos, The Wire, Rome, Generation Kill, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Band of Brothers. All great. Really enjoy the Walking Dead, Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks, An Idiot Abroad, and Through the Wormhole as well.

Movies: Have a lot on this list too, but a few would include Moon, Unforgiven, Pulp Fiction, Night of the Hunter, Casablanca, No Country for Old Men, Close Up, Wings of Desire, Fanny and Alexander, My Life as a Dog, The Lives of Others, the Pianist, The Royal Tenenbaums...SO many good films out there to be enjoyed.

Music is pretty tough, as I really do love exploring new artists as much as possible and haven't really found any genre that I generally dislike. That being said, I can at least lay down some of my faves: Beatles, Robert Johnson, Bruce Springsteen, Velvet Underground, Chopin, Billy Joel, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, White Stripes, Big Boi/Outkast (LOVE Boi's solo works), the National...

Though I love cooking/eating a variety of foods, my favorites would fall within Turkish, Lebanese, Indian, and Japanese cuisine. However, if it's something worth nomming on, I'll never hesitate to try it out. Love exploring new food around Portland.
Six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Anything and everything. I'm a huge 'daydreamer, and that can encompass a whole variety of thoughts.
On a typical Friday night I am
Could be a multitude of activities, ranging from a good beer with friends, a later-than-usual hike, or even a simple night in with a movie!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Anything, as long as I trust the person and their intentions enough
You should message me if
You think we'd get on well doing any variety of activities, especially just chatting over a coffee or drink. I'm not going into anything on here with any preconceptions, just kinda seeing who I connect with and taking things from there! Oh, and if you can teach me to cook new things. That's a VERY IMPORTANT reason to message me. NOW.
