My self-summary
"I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day"

E. B. White
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a very driven person who enjoy's moments of contemplation and silence but am more comfortable in constant motion. I keep a lot of irons in a lot of fires and I prefer it that way. I am the director and co-founder of a non-profit that provides clean water and sanitation in the developing world. It takes me out of the country about twice a year typically for two weeks each time. My NPO is a huge driving force in my life.

I also serve on the Board of Directors for an amazing little gallery here in Atlanta. Although I'm not much of an artist myself art, and art culture are a huge part of my life. I really enjoy being behind the scenes doing my bit to make Atlanta a more art-centric town. It's definitely leaning more and more in that direction and that's completely kick ass.

The other thing I'm doing with my life is seeking centrality, mindfulness, enriching relationships, and joy.

I also love shopping at any Farmer's Market which I find totally zen, working on and riding my bike (the pedal kind), sitting on patio's with friends drinking coffee or craft brews, reading (I'm currently reading Just Kids by Patty Smith. Amazing), going to art openings, collecting art, discovering and listening to new music, hiking, trying new things, and making people laugh. Oh, and I'm writing a book but, who isn't these days.
I’m really good at
Finding the good in people. I know networking doesn't seem like a hobby but, for me it is. I love meeting new people and immediately cutting through the bullshit to see them for who they really are.
The first things people usually notice about me
I smile a lot and I can make a joke out of pretty much anything. I grew up the son of a pastor and incredibly sheltered so my humor has been how I've coped and come to terms with that junk. If there's a sacred cow, I'll throw a saddle on that mutha and take her for a spin.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Just Kids by Patty Smith/The Prophet by Khalil Gibran/La Casa de los Espiritus by Isabel Allende/The Walking Dead graphic novels/Pensees by Blaise Pascal/Bossy Pants by Tina Fey

Movies - Harold and Maude/Lord of the Rings/Everything is Illuminated/L'Homme qui aimait Les Femmes/Dancer in the Dark/Kung Pow/Anything by Monty Python but, especially The Life of Brian

Shows - Right now I'm watching a lot of House of Cards and The Wire but I really enjoy most britcoms, hell, most British television period. I'm a huge fan of Flight of the Conchords which is sadly no more. I like anything that draws me in like Lost, the X-Files, or Game of Thrones.

Music - Belle and Sebastian/Daft Punk/Javelin/Boards of Canada/Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr./School of Seven Bells/Arcade Fire/Justice/Rainbow Arabia/Yeasayer/Dr. Dog/Neutral Milk Hotel/Fleet Foxes/ The Decemberists

I'm a huge foodie and this is definitely the right town for it. I eat at Manuel's Tavern a good bit. I'm a huge fan of Farm Burger, Highland Bakery, Tacqueria del Sol, Twains, and anything foreign, especially Indian. I haven't spent much time trying restaurants on Buford Highway but I'd like to soon.
Six things I could never do without
1) My boys
2) My bike
3) My book
4) My phone
5) Travelling
6) My sense of humor
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Stuff and junk but mostly stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
On a porch with good beer, good friends, and a lot of laughs.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Ugh. Well, since I was super sheltered and didn't have much exposure to "secular" society growing up, when I turned 18 the first thing I did was get a tattoo to piss off my parents. It worked but the tattoo was/is awful and I have regretted few things as much as that damn thing. Don't get me wrong, if I had the money I'd be covered in ink but, that particular tattoo is the bane of my existence and my friends favorite thing to show people after we've had a few drinks. Bleh.
You should message me if
You want to.
