My self-summary
I have no idea how to write a self-summary, but here are some facts.

Sarcasm is like my second language (if not first). Sometimes this leads to misunderstandings.

I grew up in a small town and even after 11 years, I'm still not quite used to cities.

My cat's name is Boris. Boris is fantastic.

I put two spaces and a period at the end of every sentence, even in a one word text. (I suppose a one word text isn't usually a sentence, but that hardly stops me.) While we're on the subject of punctuation, the Oxford comma is an awful thing.

I can shear a sheep.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working on a PhD in applied math at UW. In what spare time I can muster I'm usually reading, netflixing, relaxing with friends over a beer or trying to teach myself something new (lately it's been chess and Python).
I’m really good at
Math. Procrastination. Sarcasm.
The first things people usually notice about me
I suppose my height? I'm not sure.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
How do people choose a favorite anything? These are recent.

Books - Seveneves, by Neal Stephenson; Ghost Wars, by Steve Coll; Physics for Mathematicians, by Michael Spivak.

Movies - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Deconstructing Harry, The Big Lebowski

Shows - Bob's Burgers, The Wire, The West Wing

Music - The Mountain Goats, Alabama 3, Art Tatum

Food - I just made some oxtail stew. It wasn't half bad.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Precision. In general and particular.
On a typical Friday night I am
At the department happy hour. Apparently I'm the only person who was willing to send out a weekly email, so now I'm in charge.
