[EDIT] Feel free to message me if you would like a debate on long vs short profiles? This one got out of hand I think. I have actually cut it down a couple times. Really. [/EDIT]
I love music. More then anything I love good guitar music (bass, electric or acoustic). I listen to a lot of Metal - I love the music but it has to have good rhythm and melodies, not just shouting, though it has it's place. I am by no means a complete metal-head though, my first love on music was funk. I play bass guitar + play Acid Jazz + Heavy/Thrash Metal - two different styles, but then there are many sides to me. Lately I think I would like to learn to play the piano.
I am a geek. But it does not define me. I can bend any machine to my will. If you use Linux then message me, I'll probably like you. Although outside of work I find I don't have quite the interest in tech that I used to - I don't want to spend hours on a computer having just spent hours on a computer. The exception to that is Gaming. I was raised on and love Nintendo though play a lot of PC games. I hesitate to call myself a PC Gamer though since my rig works it's hardly up to much. Other priorities seem to win out.
I have an affinity for wood and hand tools. But lately I have been playing far too much with power tools. I fear it will not end well.
I like reading and probably have books on 1000 different topics. I like to learn new things. All things. Find me a book on something I've never heard of and I'll love you dearly.
If you met me, I suspect you'd find me quiet at first - too chilled our for my own good at times I'm told. But talk to me with a mind that is open to the world and we'll talk for hours.
Bullying computers until they inevitably yield to my will.
*Not learning the right things.
I also have most of the work by Jhonen Vasquez, the artwork appeals to me the most - in a dark way of course.
Otherwise I like a good gothic horror novel, or a trip to Discworld.
I like suggestions on books to read, so if you know of any tell me. I'm currently reading "Gothic Tales" by Elizabeth Gaskell.
Movies: Tim Burton movies come top of my list - The Corpse Bride, and Nightmare before Christmas. I love all Bruce Lee movies, and have a guilty love of really bad horror movies - especially weird Japanese ones: Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein. The Crow. Final Fantasy movies.
Music: Lacuna Coil. Seen and met them more times then I can count. Big part of my life frankly.
Jamiroquai, Metallica, Diamond Head, Mercyful Fate, Opeth, Eminem, Mowtown & Motorhead. Really. If it has bass and a melody, I'm in. I've been to more gigs than I can remember.
Emilie Autumn. If you didn't have to look that up, you should message me. Though I suspect I'm probably one of limited crowd of male fans. It's just different.
Shows: Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead. YouTube science talks.
Foods: Chocolate is clearly the king of all edible materials man has developed. A damn good fried breakfast after a heavy night drinking comes close.
Maybe not in that order.
Crap...it seems I can't count.
If I wasn't at the Lacuna Coil gig in Camden that I was at last Friday, I'd be wishing I was.
If you are as bad at sleeping as I am, writing this.
If you just want to have a random chat, then message me for any reason. If you want to meet a new friend, I'd like to meet you.
But if your thoughts are more serious, and you are actually looking for someone special then please see my last paragraph below:
If you are looking for someone to talk with, laugh with, or spend time with, who will respect you for who you are and understands that life is never black and white, but can always be fun. If you want someone who doesn't play games and will always be open and honest with you - and if you are willing to do the same in return. You don't need to know who you are and where you are going, I won't lie to you and say that I do. We evolve, we change as we explore life. Ultimately I'm looking for someone to join me in that.
They say politics is not a good topic to start on but I have to address the elephant in room. I see the politics of hate and fear rising in this world. If you choose hate or willful dismissal of the suffering of other human beings simply because they aren't like you... we really won't get on. The world is a vast and diverse place but in a dime it can become small and dangerous. Don't let hate fester in your world and grab power, or one day you may find yourself carrying those you love into danger to escape another danger. Our Grandparents knew this, it was not that long ago.
If you want to form an Acid Victorian Gothic Jazz Punk band.
[EDIT] Also just message me if you have a suggestion on something interesting to read. I seem to be at loss at the moment. [/EDIT]
