My self-summary
I tend to spend a couple years with each interest. I've been really into glassblowing, soaring & flying, and skiing. I hope to get back into each of those, especially glassblowing. In fact, if all I can find on OkCupid is a glassblowing partner, I'll consider that a major success.

Right now I'm into Burning Man, Dance Dance Revolution, food & wine, and tennis.

I am fun loving, intense, and decisive
What I’m doing with my life
I've been a massively multiplayer game designer for the last 10 years - it *is* my dream job, always has been, even before I was able to do it full-time. I hope to be able to do this forever.

But lately I'm feeling the need to create art. To me, great art causes strong emotions, and sometimes even creates a shift in thinking. I hope that some day my art is that good.
I’m really good at
Fun stuff: I'm really good at Dance Dance Revolution. I want to find someone to play with that can beat me.

Skill stuff: I'm a great programmer, especially algorithm design.

Important stuff: I have a knack for identifying what other people are good at, what they're doing right, and what their qualities are.
The first things people usually notice about me
I honestly don't know. In fact, if you chat with me and tell me what you first notice, I'll put it here. If it's a good thing ;)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Atlas Shrugged. I wouldn't say it changed me, because reading it was an affirmation of what I've always believed. For food, I really like experimental cuisine. Science cooking. Figuring out how to turn a duck into cotton candy, that sort of thing.

My favorite band is the Fiery Furnaces - they're wildly creative and take huge risks. For instance, one album was rock opera sung half by an 80 year old woman. It was spectacular.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Evolutionary psychology - explanations for human behaviors that otherwise make no sense. For instance, everyone likes to play hide & seek (especially kids, and it's true for all cultures.) You can imagine an evolutionary reason for why playing hide & seek would be fun. But "combinatorics games" like chess, go, and awari are also universal, and the explanation for that isn't so obvious, at least to me.
You should message me if
If you're a passionate, unique person you should message me. I'll respond. If we don't connect then there's no harm, right? And even though I don't have dozens of people that I'm close to, my friends are extraordinarily varied. As I write this, I'm on vacation with a couple of friends who are about twice my age. So, ask me about that.
