Hello! Random person on the internet here trying to connect with other humans!
Ever have a guy at your job that trained people or that the staff just generally looked up to/respected as a whole... and you looked back on years later and were like "wow that guy was cool, we should have been friends?" I tend to be that guy.
Born and raised in South Jersey but have lived in the Adirondacks and other parts of NY state. I love my job and my awesome 4 story Victorian house, so here I am!
Proud owner of 4 special (but stubborn and needy) mini dachshunds!
I have put spaces in here for ADHD convenient reading purposes. Who likes reading a wall of text about someone they don't even know? I am sure someone does, and that could be you, but I am trying to make it easier to skim through and decide if you want to know more.
In my spare time, I write long, boring songs that generally only I would find interesting. Sometimes, when I'm not completely lazy, I record them.
I don't watch a lot of television but Youtube, Netflix, and a sprinkle of on demand programming do tend to make their way into my week.
I spent a large portion of my youth trying to get into the video game industry producing music. I shelved that for a long time, but I've recently gotten back into it due to recent new software/hardware acquisitions.
Getting back into homebrewing! I enjoy coming up with stupid puns for the names. Last one I did was a chocolate rye pumpkin beer called Gourdi Laforage, (for you Star Trek fans).
Fumbling my way around an instrument enough to make it produce pleasant sounds.
Leaving my car windows down(but only when it's going to rain).
Puns/dad jokes. I actually tend to milk this a bit too much, like on a dairy basis. Some people are laugh-tose intolerant though.
Listening and giving advice.
Coming up with witty remarks on the spot.
Making a great cup of coffee. Once I figure out your perfect cream/sugar/strength ratio, it's all over.
Suggesting music, movies and restaurants based on people's taste.
Disobeying rules. Not so much a "lawbreaker" but I definitely march to my own beat.
Most of my recent reads have been non fiction relating to brewing and various science texts. I am not opposed to fiction at all but when I tend to read those, I find the day is gone and then I get sad. That being said, I've tended to enjoy long sprawling works things with a fantasy or supernatural feel. A Song of Ice and Fire, His Dark Materials, Outlander, The Witcher, Lord of the Rings, The Dark Tower are some examples.
Orig Star wars trilogy, new Batman trilogy, Fight Club,Back to the Future, Memento, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Lord of the rings, American History X, Transformers (the 1986 movie, not 2007 and onward), Short Circuit, Groundhog Day, Dark Crystal, Tron, Terminator 2, Mulholland Drive, Pootie tang (guilty pleasure), Cannibal:the musical, Amelie, Inception, how to tame your dragon, Taken (the first), THE ROOM.
My favorite Christmas movies are Die Hard and Gremlins.
Shows: Doctor Who ( grew up with the classic but love the new series also), Transformers, Star Trek (ALL OF IT, especially Deep Space Nine), Battle Star Galactica, LOST, Fringe, Seinfeld, Breaking Bad,Band of Brothers, Game of Thrones, Flight of the Conchords, Family Feud, X-Files, Primeval, etc. If it was a Netflix exclusive chances are I watched it and at the very least enjoyed it. Love the Science channel. I also have an affinity for any show dedicated to food.
Including but not limited to:
Proggy - Oceansize, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Pure Reason Revolution, Amplifier, Riverside, Anathema, Anekdoten, Umphrey's Mcgee, Vola, Shattered Skies, Tesseract, Jolly, Leprous, etc
Metal/Doomy - (old) Opeth, Insomnium, In Mourning, Ne Obliviscaris, Be'lakor, Amon Amarth, etc
Electronic/edm - Apoptygma Berzerk, Assemblage 23, Chromeo
I also enjoy cheesey 80s shit, cringey 90s stuff, and video game music. This was a very small snippet of my tastes... if I listed everything, you'd yawn, get gone and move on.
Indian cuisine is the best food ever!! Don't use Temple of Doom as a reference! Baked pasta, pizza, chinese, mexican, anything spicy, anything with garlic, kransekake (Norwegian wedding cake).
As for beverages, water, coffee, beer and tea are pretty much all I drink. Very ocassional wine or whiskey.
Human interaction (despite my slight introvertedness).
Freedom of expression
Coffee coffee coffee (coffee).
Beer in the evening.
How someone could have voted for Trump in good conscious... And how anyone could possibly continue to defend him.
My next vacation.
What skill set I can acquire next in a reasonable amount of time.
The intricate and broad aspects of music.
People that are no longer in my life for one reason or another.
I get very nostalgic, so I guess the past (but I don't LIVE in the past).
I like having beer tastings/game nights or going to the bar.
Rewriting lists over and over by myself in my Victorian house
You made it this far into the profile. At this point, it'd be like getting to 8-4 of Super Mario and just turning off the console right before you fight Bowser. The princess might be in another castle, but I'm right here!
If you like pina coladas...
