My self-summary
Well, let's see ... my life, in 100 words or less. I recently moved to Kalamazoo MI from Dallas. However, I'm not a native Texan but from the DC area. I've been in the Metroplex on and off for about 15 years now. I miss the seasons, but not the cold and snow like it was back east. Not so much a sports fan though I do work out quite a bit. I love music, art, reading, rich conversation over wine. And I enjoy getting to know people.

I am looking for someone who is open-minded, compassionate, independant, strong, intelligent, has a great sense of humor and takes care of themselves. While I am liberal (probably half will delete this immediately), I am NOT a fan of extremism on either end. Also, you should know that I am not religious. I am tolerant of all beliefs; it is just not my angle.
What I’m doing with my life
Fulltime with a major drug retailer, a very cool job advising and coaching mid-to-senior level executives. Part of HR, I develop talent. I'm in the midst of a personal and professional reset, focusing on getting back to the place where I'm doing what I love. One part: rekindling my love of writing! Overall, life is good!
I’m really good at
Listening to others and asking questions (and I am getting much better at moderating that). I love to write and, in small journals, have had pieces published before. Oh, I'm also good at playing guitar. Not a skilled, read-the-music type of player. Instead, I go for mood and connection with other musicians. And that's just for fun!
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, other than the hairless dome (LOL), I'd guess it's my approach to things. And I don't know if others pick up on this immediately, but I'm so happy that I've thrown myself into challenging my habits. My move to Michigan is a total 180 from my time in Texas. I think and process things, and am quite open-minded, which at first strikes some folks as unusual. At least, that's what I think people notice. Maybe you can tell me!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I'm a WIDE reader: fiction one month, then non-fiction, sci-fi, history, biography, whatever hits my mood at the time. Currently, I'm tackling a collection of Roger Ebert's movie reviews; The Omnivore's Dilemma; The Circle by Dave Eggers. And several already by the side waiting to be absorged.

Music: Oh, man, everything: Rock, Country, Blues, Metal, Classical, Jazz, New Age, even some rap. To me, it's all just one continuum.

Movies: Drama, Sci-Fi, Comedy, Animation ... as long as there's a great story line, I'm into it. Favorite films: The Godfather (I and II), 2001: A Space Odyssey, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Alien, Aliens, Apocalypse Now, American Beauty, No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, etc.

Shows: not much I watch on TV except very funny "in-your-face" pieces like John Oliver or MSNBC, etc.
Six things I could never do without
Reading (Kindle, magagzines, paper, etc)
Relaxation and calm
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Hard to say in just a few words. Let's just say "stuff." It depends on what's current. Currently: What is this strange fascination with Donald Trump? I just can't imagine him representing our nation! Absurd ... what was is that Jim Morrison said: "Weird scenes inside the goldmine."
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm usually just relaxing at home, drinking some wine, laughing during Shark Tank and then chlling with my music, whether it's from Pandora or my own songs. Then on Saturdays, I prefer going to dinner, movie or the theater depending on what's what.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There are many other things that can await discovery. However, one that I will admit is that I am an introvert, which strikes some folks as odd.
The two of us
