My self-summary
"I have nothing to offer anyone except my own confusion." – Jack Kerouac

Hey! Glad you could make it...come on in, pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable...don't worry about taking off your shoes (who cares if there's a little dirt on the Berber?). Here, have a glass of Cab and a piece of 62% cocoa dark chocolate while I introduce myself:

I'm a newly-single 52 year-old California-born artist of scottish heritage (I don't wear a kilt or play bagpipes, but I'm always open to exploring new adventures), I'm in good health and physical condition with auburn/brown hair, green eyes, and a fair complexion (to quote Woody Allen, "I don't tan, I stroke").

I have a degree in film/television from UCLA, where I also wrote a weekly human interest/humor column in the school paper as both a student and alumnus.

I'm an outdoors, nature, animal, and ocean lover, and, – despite the fact that it's an online dating cliché – I really do enjoy walks along the beach as well as on the Bay Area regional park trails, drives along the coastline, and day trips to Wine Country or Monterey/Carmel. I enjoy quiet moments sharing a fine Sonoma Cabernet or Kentucky bourbon, especially beside a warm fire. I'm equally comfortable engaging in interesting conversation, laughter, or quiet contemplation.

(You've got a little chocolate smudge on your chin...right, other side...there, got it...)

I have a goofy/impish/sarcastic (tempered) sense of humor and enjoy flirting, sharing laughter, and kissing...

I'm buddhist in spirit, believing that life is meant to be lived in unconditional peace, forgiveness, and lovingkindness.

I'm looking for women who share my sensibilities and are free-spirited, playful, laid-back, exploring, sensual, curious, and drama free. Due to my current life situation, I'm not presently available as a Life Partner. If you're looking for your future husband, I wish you all the best from my heart, but I am not the match for you (I have waaaaay too much on my plate right now for that, as I elaborate on below...).
What I’m doing with my life
To coin a popular expression, I have "a lot on my plate." I'm a recently divorced writer and artist caring full-time for my mom who suffers from Alzheimer's (I'm in the proverbial "mid-life transition"). This responsibility, for now, doesn't allow for much logistical flexibility (e.g., travel), which is in large part why I'm here on OKC. As much as I'd like to run out and play, for now, I prefer to meet interesting new people here online, establish a rapport, explore, and see where that leads. If we make a connection here, we can then move on to meeting locally for a glass of wine (or bourbon), or coffee, or a nice lunch, and see what unfolds.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. :-) Namasté.
I’m really good at
My ex says I give good back rubs. ;-) I'm proficient at all things right-brain. I have a creative (and active) imagination. I enjoy pleasuring, pampering, and preparing delicious foods of the traditional American variety (I make a mean lamb chop).
The first things people usually notice about me
My green eyes and sense of humor. I've also been told that I smell good.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite book/author: "The Sun Also Rises." (Hemingway)

Favorite movies: "Annie Hall," "The 5th Element," "On Golden Pond," "Bladerunner," "Airplane," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "Broadcast News," "Men in Black," "Zoolander," any movies by Pixar.

Favorite TV shows: "Big Bang Theory," "30 Rock" (alas it is gone...), "The Office," "The Neighbors," "Ancient Aliens," "Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern" (love this guy!), "Pawn Stars," "Iron Chef America," "Chopped" (yeah, I likes me my foods...)

Favorite food: Eclectic, from hot dogs to Haute Cuisine.

Favorite music: Eclectic leaning towards smooth jazz (Klugh, Koz, Sanborn, Grusin), Gypsy Kings, Kenny Loggins, Sade ("Lovers Rock"), Supertramp's "Breakfast In America" (possibly greatest album ever), Eagles, Henley, Journey (can you tell I grew up in the '70's?).

Favorite contemporary human behavior studies article:
Six things I could never do without
Air, water, food, shelter, clothing (unless it's the tropics), and warm human interaction (not necessarily in that order...).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
So what's the deal with women and unicorns (or is this simply an algorithmic anomaly of OK Cupid female members)? Also, how do I get the tiny dead battery out of my wristwatch.
On a typical Friday night I am
Enjoying a nice bourbon and "Chopped" marathon (Food Network), unless it's baseball season, in which case I am watching the S.F. Giants on "Orange Friday." With the exception of the Giants, I am open to alternative activities...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a secret crush on Siri.

UPDATE: Great news! The matchmaking elves at OKC have just informed me that my profile has received so many visits that they're promoting me to an "elevated desirable" status – with benefits! But don't take it from me, read what they wrote: "This won't affect your match percentages, which are still based purely on your answers and desired match's answers. But we'll recommend more attractive people to you. You'll also appear more often to other attractive people."

Finally! A VIP pass to the "attractive people" lounge (I wonder how that's determined exactly?)!
