My self-summary
One who looks for art in the everyday.

If I tell you that you're beautiful, realize that it's not an achievement or a trophy but rather an attempt to share an experience. It's the same as calling a friend to tell her to go outside and look at the moon!

I suspect that last paragraph eliminates a lot of people for doctrinaire reasons. But for those of you who made it past that: I think the Prarie Home Companion parody of OKC is pretty apt. ("Beautiful Losers.") Most people are on here for a bit of narcissistic reinforcement. If you are looking for someone to match or complement your own personal brand of "cool" then that's probably a bad sign. I'd very much like to find someone who would like to create a quietly beautiful home and a humble and cozy life together, and with a child.
What I’m doing with my life
I've spent a couple of decades as a highly paid programmer. I'm writing my own MMO. I'd also like to make a mark and attain some recognition as a musician.

Recently, I've realized that I would like to get married and have kids.
I’m really good at
Giving backrubs. Playing Traditional music. (Irish Trad) Dancing. (Contra Dance) Understanding what it's like to be misunderstood -- and using this to see how I can better understand the rest of the world. Making odd but interesting lateral associations.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm long haired, unfortunately. They also notice that I'm Asian, and that I seem serious. This doesn't reveal much which is really truly interesting about me, however. It's only fodder for prejudgements. I'd rather they notice something about how I ask questions.

Once you get to know me, I can be one of the goofiest people you know.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to reach people.

My latest thing: the new minimum standard. It might be too much to ask for someone to die suddenly for their principles. How about being willing to die quietly and alone sometime far in the future for one's principles? It doesn't seem so much to ask, but in thinking about it, it seems that most people don't even do this much.
On a typical Friday night I am
Alone at home, reading, playing music, or doing a personal project. I might go out to a Hackerspace or to see something like Flamenco dancing. Lately, I've been tweaking frame drums.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That I don't want to admit any of my private things. Well, if asked, I say I'm atheist. Really, most people just don't say anything about what they really believe or go along with the crowd somehow. There's probably some wisdom to that.
You should message me if
If you often observe people jump to conclusions and wonder why they did so soon. If you are a clear thinking sensualist intellectual or artist. If you like the sensuality of motion and love its expression in the rhythm of traditional musics. If you are a lover of music without words. If you understand the language of touch.

You should message me if you reject all forms of identity based politics; If you reject the notion that someone is greater or lesser based on any facile surface marker; If you understand the notion of epistemic responsibility; If you are an old-school Humanist Liberal, anti-authoritarian, and you hold the rights of human beings paramount.

(Moved to the front of my profile, since it was one of the best parts:

If you can listen openly when I tell you that you're beautiful, and realize that it's not an achievement or a trophy but rather an attempt to share an experience. It's the same as calling a friend to tell her to go outside and look at the moon!)
