My self-summary
I'm fresh from the east coast and a UC Berkeley grad student in journalism, focusing on international law and human rights--the plan is to eventually combine my interests in documentary photography and international relations in conflict reporting. In my first master's, I developed an interested in international law, so I spend a lot of time researching war crimes/crimes against humanity.

I love to read, collect degrees, be outside, hang out with my friends, watch movies, grab drinks--the usual things. I'm a sports fan--I'm big into hanging out at sports bars and watching games.

I'm a San Jose native but spent the last 8 years on the east coast, so I'm returning to the Bay Area with fresh eyes and a much faster walking pace. I'm up for exploring new places (read: parks, bakeries, and bookstores) and experiences in and around Berkeley/Oakland/SF.
What I’m doing with my life
In grad school working towards becoming a human rights investigator or investigative journalist.
I’m really good at
Buying more books than I can read
Taking baths
Making cheesecake (The only thing I make, by the way...I only ever learned how to make my favorite dessert in order to eat it. That being said, I've been looking for ways to improve my poor cooking skills)
Edit: I've since added amazing homemade chocolate chip cookies to my repertoire
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm shy at first but once I get to know you, I'm way more outgoing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: really too many to make into a list, but I'll try anyway
-All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
-The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien
-To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
-A Million Little Pieces by James Frey
-Americanah by Chimimanda Adichie
-A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra
authors include Dave Eggers (particularly Zeitoun), Norman Mailer, Kurt Vonnegut, Russell Banks, John le Carre, Julian Barnes, Markus Zusak, JK Rowling, Philip Pullman, Orhan Pamuk, Jhumpa Lahiri
I read a ton of fiction (I was an English lit major in undergrad), but it's probably a 70/30 split between fiction and nonfiction

-The Newsroom
-30 Rock
-Parks and Recreation
-Arrested Development
-The West Wing (currently devouring it for the first time on Netflix... whatever Aaron Sorkin has, I'm drinking the kool-aid)

Six things I could never do without
Taking Pictures
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where I'll be working this summer.
What's the next restaurant/cafe/activity I want to try.
What I'm reading.
Where I'm going to be 5 years from now, 10 years from now...

Unfortunately, because I'm in journalism school--politics.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either hanging out with friends at bars or curling up with a good Netflix binge/book.
You should message me if
You want to get to know each other over food, coffee, or a drink and see where it goes.
