My self-summary
I'm just a guy who keeps trying to figure life, and myself out. I grew up on a farm, live in the city, and still have a farmhouse where I go to get away now and then, walk barefoot, ride 4 wheelers, and feel some fresh air. I'm rather liberal, a bit geeky (piano bars do happen), a lot contemplative, and generally a decent listener. I like to go for long walks. I live my life looking forward to beautiful moments with my friends, such as building a fire on the beach, getting a little buzzed together at happy hour, and hearing all the stories they have to tell. I think I'm a good listener, and occasionally a good talker.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to navigate it as best I can. My day job is marketing analytics for a pharmaceutical company.
I’m really good at
Keeping good posture, avoiding people who are too hung up on social status, staying away from social media (besides dating sites), complaining about conservatives, getting stuff done, fixing up a house (plumbing, electrical, framing) and making sunflower seeds grow in random places.
The first things people usually notice about me
My apathy toward my wardrobe.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Julie Driscoll, Lulu, Steve Miller Band, Supertramp, The Beatles,Earth, Wind and Fire, etc. Also like classical piano.

I like books that touch on philosophy, human evolution, psychology, and the evils of capitalism. Currently reading Grapes of Wrath.

I like movies that make me think about our existence.
The six things I could never do without
Friends who make me feel alive and accepted when I am around them, food that makes me excited to eat it, profound experiences that yank me into the present moment, candle light to tell stories by, music that moves me, and quiet time alone to explore my inner consciousness and ponder who and what I really am. I love mentally peeling apart my mind and exploring the layers of consciousness that are ineffable.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
When you take language out of the equation, what is the experience of the present moment? If time doesn't really exist, then is free will an illusion? And if time doesn't exist, can consciousness shift to experience another time since it technically all happened at once? When people smoke DMT, is what they see just a result of weird brain firing, or are they really experiencing another realm of consciousness? Why is my morning self so at odds with my evening self? How can I unravel my brain enough to conquer anxiety? Why do we as a society praise anyone who has a job, even if what they produce is deleterious to humanity? Is there a better way to live? Can we overthrow capitalism and replace it with an entirely new system based on community rather than winner take all? Will Apple TV ever get better screen savers? Lyrics to Leonard Cohen songs. How bipedalism eventually led humans to become such really strange chimpanzees.
On a typical Friday night I am
I can't always predict my energy level on a Friday night. Sometimes, I'll go to happy hour and see where the night goes afterward. I'm less likely to go out to the bars later because I get annoyed with the weekend crowds, but there are times when I'm up for it. Going to a Japanese noodle bar for a big bowl of ramen is a good start to the weekend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I like to beat a homemade drum, maraca rattles and chant sometimes.
You should message me if
You like to stay up late at night around a candle with bottles of wine, reading scary stories to each other, talking about life, dissecting song lyrics and occasionally walking barefoot through streams in the woods. Enjoying sitting on a roof staring at the stars is also a plus.
