I want someone who can be with me, and be part of me, to share whatever life can bring our way. I have no desire to do the one night stand thing, and since I am a Byronic romantic at heart, I'd like to believe that there is someone out there to walk beside me all the way. Also, note: I practice *ethical* non-monogamy. If you have a problem with this, kindly don't send me a rant by PM. The ethical part is important. Honesty is important. If you cannot handle that, we probably should not talk. However, if you are perfectly fine with this... read on!
What am I looking for? Well, I do not have a type to speak of. I tend to find I am attracted to everyone on their own merits. However, saying that, I love tattoos and piercings, a wicked (and sarcastic) sense of humour, and I am very much attracted to intelligence. Age is not really a factor for me. Someone older, someone younger if we click, we click, and that is what really matters. The goth look, the dark and dangerous, alternative, multi-hued hair: I have always loved it, and that is never going to change! But brains are just so damn sexy!
I have done a variety of jobs for a living, including working in the NHS, which was very rewarding. These days, I work for myself which is to say, I am artistic and have a tiny income. Specifically, I compose music of various sorts, for myself, or on commission basis. When I say compose music I do not mean I am in a band it is much more than that. I can, and do, compose orchestral music. I'm happy to provide examples if anyone reading this is interested. I own a lot of instruments, and can play most of them to a decent standard. My current favourite is the mandolin, but it varies.
I'm also an actor. I went to drama school to get my BA in drama. My next project should be a biopic of someone in Northern Ireland. I may be naked. You have been warned! Updates here as they occur
I'm a keen LARPer, and play in several systems. I am also a writer and ref for the LARP company Lumpy Rubber Sheep who produce several weekend-long shows throughout the LARP season. I'm getting more and more into cosplay, too, and I am just as likely to cosplay a female as a male character. Gender is not a big deal, as far as I am concerned. Be yourself!
I read a great deal. I love the works of Jim Butcher, Gail Carriger, and Jane Austen (there's a mixture for you.) I believe my favourite TV show is the original Doctor Who (not so bothered about the new stuff) and my taste in music is so broad that it would be very hard for me to point at anything I have not been into at some point in my life.
There's a few criteria a profile would need to fulfill to pique my interest. Not writing in txt spk is one of them. If you can't take the time to write with proper English, punctuation, grammar, or capitalisation, then we are probably not going to get along. Equally, if you are wearing hideous pink lipstick, think an orange fake tan, and a series of duck faced photographs are all attractive, were definitely not going to click.
If you've managed to read all of this, then feel free to drop me a line. I'll try to respond to everyone who does.
I play many instruments, consider myself a creative individual when it comes to writing. And attacking small rabbits in the undergrowth to drag back to my nest!
As a curious addendum, I also speak and read Middle Egyptian. Which is to say, I can read hieroglyphics. I went to university to learn it, and stuff!
*Amendment! I have a new bed. I can now do stealth naps and nobody can hear the squeaking! Mwahahahahaha!
I like movies that make me think, and books that make me laugh! I'm currently enjoying Jasper Fforde. And his books, naturally *;-) I've also been devouring the Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. However, my favourite book is Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen - it never fails to lighten my mood.
Recently, I've been reading a lot about the History of London, especially the 17/18th centuries, social history and criminal/legal history especially.
In movies, I am not a huge fan of the great rom-com/blockbuster type movies, though I do have a few favourites from that genre. I love film noir, more arty type movies and the sort of movie that makes you shiver but doesn't use gore. Amongst my favourites are "Metropolis," the Bogart "Big Sleep" and other movies of that ilk.
On TV, I love clever mystery and detective shows. Castle, Monk, Leverage and so forth.
I'm also very fond of absurdist literature, such as the plays of Jarry or Ionesco, and the art of the French impressionists - Monet, Magritte and so forth. (Which is not to discount Dali or Picasso, as I adore them too.)
So, my absolute favourites?
Learning to Crawl - The Pretenders
Back in Black - AC/DC
The Sky Moves Sideways - Porcupine Tree
Live Rust - Neil Young & Crazy Horse
The Bends - Radiohead
Blade Runner (Director's Cut)
Leon - Version Integrale if I can get hold of a copy!
Miss Congeniality. Makes me laugh every time *8-)
Kung Fu Hustle. And Shaolin Soccer too, for that matter.
Die Hard. Cheesy, maybe. But awesomeness!!!
Since it does come up fairly often, yes, I *am* Dom. Not sub, not switch. I have experience. But I am not going to rattle on about how amazing I am, as that sort of egomaniacal alpha male posturing nonsense is one of the biggest turn-offs I can imagine.
However, as an addendum to this - while I am flattered by the attention, I am not currently looking for a relationship with a gay man. I *am* bisexual, but that isn't what I want right now. I do appreciate that attention fellas, it's very nice to know you like what you see, but please, take this into account before messaging me...if you read down this far...
