My self-summary
I hate this section. Everything I come up with just makes me sound like a pain in the ass, which is probably true, but I'm hardly supposed to tell you that. Eventually I'll come up with something that reflects my true crunchy-on-the-outside-gooey-on-the-inside self. For now, let's just say I'm a nice (when you get to know me), even keeled and curious kind of guy.
What I’m doing with my life
Photography is a passion, and I try to get out with my Leica M8 as much as possible. I also love to travel — Europe and the Virgin Islands are my favorites. I'm not really outdoorsy per-se, but I do enjoy hiking and sailing. Would love to take riding lessons sometime.
I’m really good at
coming off as completely awkward to people I just meet.
The first things people usually notice about me
"My what big eyes you have!" or perhaps "My how completely awkward you are!"
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I read to escape, so my iPad is full of dorky or historical fiction and humor. Some of my favorite authors are David Sedaris, Jim Butcher, Steven Saylor, C. S. Forester, Anne Rice, and Agatha Christie.

TV & Movies: I love me some Doctor Who! And Sherlock and Luther ... lots of BBC things. Also rather fond of sci-fi, Quentin Tarantino, "classic" movies, period pieces and movies that are just pretty. I still think of Dangerous Liaisons as my favorite movie, but truth be told, I haven't watched it in years. I rarely watch horror movies, reality TV or Lifetime (unless there's a Golden Girls rerun on.)

Music: My tastes are quite eclectic — I'm just as likely to sing along (poorly) with Katy Perry as Frank Sinatra or Patsy Cline or Beyonce or Tammy Wynette. I also really enjoy classical music and opera, and try to make at at least a couple of Kennedy Center performances every season.

Food: French, Indian, Tex-Mex and pizza top the list. I also love to cook, but only for other people. My microwave is threatening to go on strike and not heat up another Bocca burger unless I find someone to cook for soon.
The six things I could never do without
Coffee, iMac/iPad/iPhone, wine, a camera, blue jeans, sarcasim
I spend a lot of time thinking about
ways journalism and media companies can survive the transition to the all-digital-all-the-time-not-too-distant future. Also how many hyphens I can get into a compound adjective.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have no issues doing language lessons in public, usually during early morning walks down 17th, around the Ellipse, and back. So if you've passed a seemingly crazy person on the street repeatedly asking "Wann möchten Sie etwas trinken?" ... yeah, that was probably me. Also, I actually like plain yogurt.
You should message me if
you aren't completely put off by the statements made above.
