My self-summary
seven years in and still stoked to be living in new york city. I'm a musician and very lucky to do that as a job (write, rehearse, record, go on tour). I mainly play saxophone, but also dabble in various other instruments; maybe you+I play(ed) the same one. I'm also an avid biker (I take the MTA maybe once a month nowadays) and love talking about bike routes and general tales of biking woe/triumph.

I find the world fascinating, both for its absurdity and its logic, and I love talking & thinking about the ways that make it so. therefore, i love to travel, learn new things, and check out art that is mentally stimulating. I also love cats and will probably ignore 5-10 minutes of human conversation to pet one.

I'm growing more and more disillusioned with social media, so I'm down to ditch the phones and go experience the real world.
What I’m doing with my life
most likely, laughing my head off at otherwise:

writing/playing music
biking around Brooklyn
hiking in the Rockies / American southwest
kicking & boxing & wrestling
finding the best burrito in town
finding the best milkshake in town
I’m really good at
turning bad events into good stories
folding bedsheets incl. fitted ones
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Jorge Luis Borges - "Ficciones." Currently reading "Pulphead" by John Jeremiah Sullivan

Alfonso Cuaron - "Gravity." But honestly, any and all Jackie Chan movies

Portlandia, Broad City, Nathan For You, Veep, Arrested Development. I didn't realize how much I like TV comedy until I wrote this list. I also don't watch GoT or the Bachelor(ette) but I will watch it with you and probably get into it.

Music is a little hard to list, but I'll throw some out: St. Vincent, Jack Garratt, Alt-J, Dirty Projectors, Courtney Barnett, Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples, Childish Gambino, Cannonball Adderley. I'm super into local indie music as well - let me know what new DIY band you're into.

Food: Dumplings, bagels, ice cream, burritos, and non-cursory salads. Had a good one recently? Tell me about it.
Six things I could never do without
1. sunlight
2. saxophone
3. passport
4. ice cream sandwiches
5. fresh laundry
6. showers
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how the Shen Yun orchestra has quietly managed to place its propaganda agents everywhere
On a typical Friday night I am
probably not somewhere super crowded. Unless i'm at a show, either watching or performing, in which case, the more the better.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
my wardrobe is more monochromatic than i'd like
You should message me if
you would like to go to a show in the city somewhere and talk about it afterwards (not during the show please) over drinks.

you are yourself a musician and looking for someone with whom to make beautiful (or grotesque) music.

you want to go see a ballet (a newly discovered interest of mine! teach me things about dance!)

you want to go for a bike ride

you enjoy having conversations about topics ranging from the metaphysical to the mundane, from the idiotic to the intellectual, from the alliterative to the assonant.
