My self-summary
I'm into music, cycling, tennis, books, german, and art. Go out pretty often, but also know when to stay in, get things done. I read a lot of nonfiction, but if you've got a new fiction recommendation, please let me know. Feel free to make me into a more well-rounded person. Recent reads include The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex, the Keith Richards book, and the Whiskey Robber. I like The New Yorker, Slate, The Economist, Wired, and GQ. My most recent obsession musical obsession is the Stranglers, but that will probably end in about a week. Before that was Steve Jobs, before that was Frank Sinatra. Before that was David Bowie.
What I’m doing with my life
I develop products for the digital classroom. At this point, I'm an editor/web designer/web publisher. It gets pretty involved, and sometimes it takes me a while to get out of work mode... But I always manage it eventually. I'm also a musical mercenary; I compose music to order. If you need a soundtrack for your your film or play, let me know.
I’m really good at
Music: I'm a pretty good guitarist, more in the Johnny Marr style. than Jimi Hendrix, although I do love Hendrix. I love electronic music also, I have a dream of upening up a school for teaching kids to do daft punk kind of music. I've become pretty good at playing the slide trombone. I'm okay at the regular classical-style, but the lazy New Orleans-style playing is what I really excel at.

I've always got some sort of project I'm working on. Typically, it involves something that I'm trying to get better at. Like Ms. Pac Man for example. Also, web animation, gardening, building things. I like to cook. I can do impressions of both Yoda and Hugh Grant.
The first things people usually notice about me
It is truly unseemly to talk about yourself in this way. Especially after the previous question.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Open, Jeffrey Eugenides, The Tender Bar, In the Heart of the Sea, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Whiskey Robber, The Secret History, Freaky Dancin'

Movies: Breaking Bad, Suits, GoT, Storage Wars, The Bourne Identity, High Fidelity, Workaholics, True Grit, Breaking Away, Barry Linden, Ferris Bueller, The Sting, Black Swan, No Country for Old Men, Revanche, Trainspotting, A Knight's Tale, The Departed, Broadway Danny Rose, Moneyball, Peep Show, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Jacques Demy, The Colbert Report... I don't really distinguish that much between TV and movies. Also, I've gotta say that Arrested Development is an overrated show. Parks and Rec too. Sorry.

Music: Kraftwerk, Killing Joke, The Descendants, Kurt Vile, Washed Out, Slowdive, LCD, Daft Punk, Lindstrom, Deadmau5, and the 5 most important bands of the 80s: The Cure, the Smiths, New Order, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Depeche Mode

I spend a lot of time listening to podcasts like The Slate Political Gabfest, Uhh Yeah Dude, How Was Your Week, the Economist, not necessarily in that order

Foods: Mexican, Indian, French and Japanese food. Also German food (come on folks, give it a chance. They're trying as hard as they can.) Auflauf is my specialty. A lot of people think that being able to appreciate any cuisine is an absolute good. Personally I have my doubts about that.
Six things I could never do without
water at room temperature, my bike, a good book, a good song, a good way to get exercise, travel
On a typical Friday night I am
It really depends. Art show, history lecture, musical event, a party. Or I might stay home with a James Bond novel and a glass of champagne.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am the world's sexiest robot.
You should message me if
people think you are normal, but you aren't really. If you can hold your end of a conversation.
