My self-summary
I'm a tech-exec-turned-venture-capitalist who lives by the mantra, “Life is about ‘and’ not ‘or.’”

Originally from the East coast, I attended a couple of schools in the NYC area--I used to think NYC was the center of the universe, but it wasn’t until I moved here in 2007 that I realized how wrong I was!

Between NY and SF, I lived in Philly, Hong Kong, and beautiful Seattle. Besides spending time in Napa and Sonoma, I love traveling to new places—Moscow/St. Petersburg, Barcelona, Shanghai, Bali, Santorini, Havana, Bangkok, and Sydney are some of my favorites. Love skiing, too--Tahoe, Park City/Deer Valley, Aspen, and Whistler.

My family and friends say I can find humor in almost any situation and, while I make light of everything and come across as pretty laid-back, I'm deeply driven.
What I’m doing with my life
I truly enjoy what I do--I learn something new each day through working with super-smart entrepreneurs--who are dedicated to making a positive impact on the world. I believe that there are many paths to happiness, but by pursuing something meaningful, happiness can be sustained for the long-term as opposed to consuming your way there in a temporal way.

I stay fit and healthy by running and cycling. I've done the NYC and St. Petersburg marathons (and half-marathons in-between) and completed a few bike centuries (Sequoia, Sea Otter, and Marin). I enjoy skiing and snowboarding, too (I do it just for the après-ski drinks!)--17 days last season! ;).

I'm also trying to be the best parent I can be for my amazing 15yo daughter and 11yo son. I'm on very good terms with my ex, so I'm not looking for a mother for them, and have other people to help as well.

Went to The Playa in 2015--amazing experience and can't wait until the next time!
I’m really good at
Making people laugh and feel at ease. Figuring stuff out. Creating amazing trip itineraries. Catching spiders. Remembering to put the toilet seat down.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm constantly told that I look like I'm in my mid-30s despite being 48--I guess I can thank good genes!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Read: My virtual nightstand of iBooks contains about 85 unread books which would be a stack to about 7' tall in the physical world! Also read the WSJ, NYT, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and several popular tech blogs...

Listen: I pretty much love all music but country and hard rap. I grew up listening to classic rock, but lately it’s been more Coldplay, Phantogram, Maroon 5, Keane, Killers, Silversun Pickups, Train, Passion Pit, The Script, Capital Cities, Two Door Cinema Club, Metric, etc. Even more recently, Kanye, Jay Z, Diddy Dirty Money...still love jazz (seen Wynton Marsalis at the Blue Note, Pat Metheny at RCMH, Herbie Hancock at SF Jazz) and classical like Tchaikovsky, Dvorak (seen Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Anne-Sophie Mutter). I love going to concerts--this year, I've seen Metric, The Cure, Sting/Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, and The Killers (in Vegas twice), with several others to come!

Watch: Modern Family, Top Chef, Last Week Tonight, Game of Thrones, Homeland, and House of Cards. I love standup comedy--from classics like George Carlin, Robin Williams, and Seinfeld to Ali Wong, Chris Rock, Demetri Martin, Chappelle, Louis CK, and Russell Peters. TED talks. I love movies from Sci-fi to contemporary classics (Glengarry Glen Ross, Usual Suspects) to documentaries (e.g., The End of Poverty? Food, Inc.)...some recent faves include Ex Machina, Her.

Eat: I love almost all cuisines, but my default is any Asian (I have dim sum almost every weekend!). I really love trying new restaurants whether Michelin-starred or the local hole-in-the-wall. And I'm not afraid of the exotic/gamier stuff either--bring it on!

Drink: Yes, it's a separate category! An exceptional wine can enhance the flavors of a good dish, but should be able to impress on its standalone merits, while bringing forth great conversation and laughs! Love Cali's Cult Cabs, but personal faves are Grenache, Cab Franc, and Zin (all three are incredibly hard to do well--lots of producers out there, but most are producing plonk).

Other favorites: Architect: Gaudi; Modern architect: tie btwn Backen, Gillam, Kroeger (exclusive Napa wineries) and Heah and Co. (majestic Asian luxury resorts). Artist utilizing glass: Chihuli.
The six things I could never do without
. Sharing amazing experiences, even the small moments with my family and friends
. Doing meaningful work
. iPhone/iTunes/iBooks/The Interwebs
. Pair of comfortable running shoes
. Wine cellar
. An extraordinary partner
I spend a lot of time thinking about
whether when I visit Machu Picchu or the beaches of the Caribbean if it'll be overrun w/touristas having their photos taken while leaping in mid-air/doing the Upward Bow. Just kidding...only sorta!
On a typical Friday night I am
catching up with family or friends over dinner and winding down with a glass or two of delicious red.
You should message me if
you're doing something you find very meaningful. You work hard to play hard. Like to laugh and make others laugh. Love to explore and learn. Love delicious wine and great food. Seek a bit of adventure in everything you do. Have a little mischievous streak that surfaces every now and then...being in tech is a plus and if you know what SQN is, then you get huge points!
