My self-summary
PSU, poet, grad-student.

I plant flowers that I forget about. Somehow I managed to keep a fleet of snapdragons, marigolds, dianthuses, geraniums, begonias, petunias, and whatever else looked too-charming at the greenhouses alive for an entire summer. I ended up putting most of the flowers in my hair. I’m thinking of investing in a cactus. I write poetry to keep my teenage-girl-tumblr-fans happy and poetry to keep my professors happy and I’m trying to tie the two together into a somewhat decent hybrid. I love the rain and getting paint on my hands. I love matcha. I love the time between right before sunset and before dark—when everything emits this soft, golden hue. I love good cinematography. I love finding new recipes on the internet and trying them because I have a cabinet full of spices I can’t pronounce. I love ordering Chinese and making s’mores. I love driving at 5 am in the suburbs when everything is so silent, except for a few other headlights—a few sleepy drivers heading to work and it’s like you’re all alone in the world. I love the way the glow of the dashboard and the beams of your headlights and other drivers’ headlights and taillights make your cars seem like your own little worlds—your own little globes of light. I love picking raspberries and dancing with my macaw and feeding him things he will take one bite out of and then drop to the ground.
What I’m doing with my life
I’m a grad student in English, finishing up my MA in English/Creative Writing and applying for MFA programs.
I’m really good at

The six things I could never do without
1. Learning new things
2. Films that make you leave the theater, stunned, still suspended in their grasp for a few more moments
3. Poetry
4. Someone I connect with and can talk to
5. That instant you’re kind of shaken from the present moment and you realize how beautiful your surroundings are
6. People
