My self-summary
Hey, I'm Alison. I have a really wonderful & very fun life, and I'm just interested in seeing if there's someone out there to share it with.

I'm pretty wacky, I have lots of energy, & love meeting people & hearing their stories. I think it's very important to learn about other people, to try to be understanding, and to have compassion.

I adore travel, and I'm always desperate to run off on another trip. In April and May of this year I walked 600 miles across Spain on the ancient medieval pilgrimage route known as the Camino de Santiago. I also love hiking and write reviews of hikes around the tristate for my travel website.

I've got a crush on the ocean; I'm a scuba diver but don't do it nearly enough. I invented an underwater hand symbol for twerking. Ridiculous. I also love going out to the theater or other fun NYC events. I really try to take advantage of living here, and it's so fun to get dressed up and spend the evening out in the city.

I have an MA in Art History, I love going to operas and the theatre, but am also as happy as a clam having a dance party at home with friends, or camping and hiking in the wilderness.

I'm definitely a Jill of All Trades, I'm pretty handy & fairly skilled at making people laugh. I own more than one evening gown. I like looking at people & smiling as I walk, instead of being on my phone all the time. My PlayStation name is BloodDrunkBarbie, and that sums me up pretty well.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working as a food/prop/craft stylist, but I'm looking into getting into the travel industry since I love it so much. I even started my own travel website!
I’m really good at
I'm really good at spouting off random facts, penmanship, planning trips, being silly, giggling, cooking/candy making, and doing accents. I'm not a shabby dancer (I know some ballroom) and I've also won two *amateur* Walk It Out competitions!
The first things people usually notice about me
My okcupid name. I was having a conversation with a friend about sucrose while making this profile.

In person, probably my height, especially since I love clomping around in heels.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
In general favorites:
Glamorous nights out on the town, fireplaces, freshly baked bread, typography, ocean breezes, mountain summits, guitar-sing-alongs, a well organized bookshelf, art on all the walls, jewel tones, red velvet fabric, needlepoint embroidery.

I love classic literature and adventure and mystery novels. I also have a soft spot for historical fiction. I'm a big Harry Potter fan and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando is my happy place right now.

like pretty much all film genres, even bad horror films.

Through the Wormhole is one of the best television shows ever. It combines theoretical science with anecdotes of Morgan Freeman's life. Brilliant.

Classical and opera music is probably my go-to favorite, but I like pop music (because I'm a dance machine), classic rock and some indie stuff. I love crooners. Sinatra, Nat King Cole and the like. Put on some Spanish guitar music and hand me a glass of sangria and I'm happy!
The six things I could never do without
Chapstick, passport, avocados, stroopwafels, laughter, fountain pens.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where I want to travel next, when I can go hiking, what theatre shows to see, the size of the universe.
On a typical Friday night I am
Seeing a show on Broadway, reading a copy of Lapham's Quarterly, hanging out with friends, or cuddled up at home after a massage!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was on America's Funniest Home Videos.
You should message me if
You are above all a kind person. You like art/culture/academia but aren't a stuffy snob, you love to learn, you enjoy the earth we live on & the other people who share it with you. You're interested in travel as a means of personal growth, laughing A LOT and not taking things too seriously.

I'm looking for someone adorbs with energy that can match mine. Someone who will take a thought or idea and run with it, someone who gets excited, has passion, but is also humble, and hopefully hilarious. I like people who are deep thinkers, who ponder and wonder and question and have a desire to always learn.
