My self-summary
NOTE: This profile comes with an optional soundtrack:

Hi I'm Alison! My life is really wonderful & and I'd love to find someone I can spend it with and learn new things from.

Originally North Texan, now a city slicker, I'm pretty wacky and love meeting people and hearing their stories. I think it's very important to learn about other people, to try to be understanding, and to have compassion.

I adore traveling, which I know most people do, but I run a travel website and work in the industry. I'm always desperate to run off on another trip and I'm away most weekends. I would like to scuba dive more than once a year. I lurve hiking/camping and I just walked 500 miles across Spain. It took a long time!

Art historian by education and I can talk your ear off about Bauhaus photography in Texas.

People call me a Jill of All Trades and I'm fairly skilled at making people laugh. I own more than one evening gown and occasionally live glamorously. I prefer looking at people & smiling as I walk down the streeet instead of being on my phone all the time. My PlayStation name is BloodDrunkBarbie, and that sums me up pretty well.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in the luxury travel industry. I'm also a food and prop stylist.
I’m really good at
Penmanship, spouting off random facts, karaoke, budget travel, giggling, cooking/candy making, and listening.
The first things people usually notice about me
Tall, blonde, and lightly fragranced.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favs: Classic literature and adventure and mystery novels, travel writing & travel memoirs. I also have a soft spot for historical fiction. I'm a BIG Harry Potter fan and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando is my happy place right now.

I like pretty much all film genres, even bad horror films, which I always have to see by myself because no one else wants to go with me.

Through the Wormhole is one of the best television shows ever. It combines theoretical science with anecdotes of Morgan Freeman's life. Brilliant. Others: RuPaul's Drag Race, High Maintenance, Broad City, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Frasier, Kimmy Schmidt, etc etc.

Classical/opera & Spanish guitar are probably my go-to favorites, and catchy pop music (because I'm a dance machine). I love crooners & Ella & Nat & Louis & company. J'aime Adele (My karaoke go-to) Lady Gaga (esp her jazzy stuff), and Elvis Costello.

Podcasts: RadioLab, TED, This American Life, 2 Dope Queens, Sooo Many White Guys, Harry Potter and the Sacred Text, Invisibilia
Six things I could never do without
Champagne, passport, hiking boots, stroopwafels, laughter, fountain pens.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My budget, what I want to see and do on my next trip, where I should go hiking.
On a typical Friday night I am
Killing it at karaoke, seeing a show on Broadway, cooking dinner for a friend, or on a plane for a weekend getaway.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was on America's Funniest Home Videos.
You should message me if
You are above all a kind person, hopefully humble and preferably hilarious. You like art/culture/academia but aren't a pretentious snob, you love to learn, you enjoy the earth we live on & the other people who share it with you. You're interested in travel as a means of personal growth, laughing A LOT, and big plus if you have friends who don't look like you!
