My self-summary
I love movies, music, beer, and conversation.

Full-time software engineer, part-time musician, puzzle designer, and world traveler.

I'm together - I know where I am, who I am, and I have a general idea of where I'm headed. I enjoy spontaneity and a life filled with surprises, but I'm not interested in emotional games.

My ideal woman is smart, funny, totally down-to-earth. Basically, I want to date Liz Lemon.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm college-educated with a good job that I try really hard to not let define me. My two big loves are travel and music.

Music: I play the French Horn in a community orchestra, and the piano.

Travel: I love to travel - get by on a few poorly-pronounced words from a phrasebook, eat strange foods, drink with random locals, and get horribly lost. I try to travel internationally a couple times a year.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh, playing music by ear, being a generally kind person.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I have an opinion on just about everything. Or that I'm coveting their dog. Seriously, that's a cute dog. Can I pet him?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Cryptonomicon is my favorite book, and I've read it several times. David Sedaris writes hilarious books. Nonfiction, I like to read pop science books (Malcom Gladwell, Levitt/Dubner, Jared Diamond).

Movies: The Big Lebowski, Snatch, The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, The Shawshank Redemption, Die Hard. I like mainstream stuff; not everything needs to make you think or be great art.

Music: Honestly, everything. Indie rock, art music, and Pop in particular.

Foods: I love spicy things, especially spicy things eaten with chopsticks. Squash, Broccoli, Spinach. Pretty much any starches. I'm not much of a sweet tooth, but I love the salty and savory. A good steak. Roasted Almonds.
Six things I could never do without
My computer, music, good friends, good food, intellectual stimulation, travel.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Puzzles. I love 'em. Crosswords and cryptics, more abstract things as well.
On a typical Friday night I am
Anything and everything. Having dinner with friends, sitting down to a few hands of cards or maybe a board game, watching a movie, drinking, the symphony or opera, shooting the shit, or cracking a bottle of wine and vegging on the couch with a book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I listen to C89.5. And I'm not really ashamed. I figure if I am a fan of Mahler, Prokofiev, and Chopin, I am also permitted to enjoy a Lady Gaga remix every now and then.
