My self-summary
NY > Seattle > NY > SF

Creative type, mixed race/perspective, animator and designer, humorist, writer and contributor to various news/culture publications.

I never take myself too seriously, so I'll probably be the first one to crack a joke. If you beat me to it though... 💥 🚀 😉
What I’m doing with my life
Adobe everything for the day job and personal work, biking around the city, writing my next contributor article for Huffington Post, exhibiting art or satirical cartooning, visiting NYC where I left my heart, making korritos in my seasoned wok.
I’m really good at
Keeping a list of good restaurants/bars that aren't overcrowded, Seinfeld-like conversation, interviews, sharp wit on a good day, using the em dash—case and point—keeping my money accounts and clients on the ethical side, finding art galleries and events that are less "art world" and more personal, being addicted to kombucha.
The first things people usually notice about me
The half Asian eyes, the general friendliness, and that I guess I'll always be a New Yorker in that I love intelligent conversation with humor, and never too much of one without the other 🤔😆
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: History, artist/entertainer biographies, graphic novels, mostly non-fiction.
Movies & Shows: I like most things Mike Judge, Coen Brothers, Marvel, and always take the time to pick out interesting finds for SF DocFest and Sketchfest. My Netflix list includes Bob's Burgers, Stranger Things, Love, Jessica Jones, history docs, hip hop docs, comedy specials, and IT Crowd is probably my favorite sitcom ever. Miyazaki was like my Disney growing up.
Music: I add artists to my Songkick app pretty regularly. Some genres I'm into that also influence my guitar playing are dream pop, indie rock, new wave, jazz and underground hip hop. I used to go to Cat Club a lot, and still do occasionally. Some recent bands I like are Mac DeMarco, Wild Nothing, and Washed Out. Some old ones are Sonic Youth, Depeche Mode, and Django Reinhardt.
Podcasts: Love them! Judge John Hodgman, This American Life, WTF, Nerdist, 99% Invisible, Savage Love, and most things Paul F. Tompkins, Nick Kroll, and Conan O'brien.
Six things I could never do without
Books / graphic novels, my bike, writing/art projects in constant rotation, humor, the holidays with my family, restaurant style ramen
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Staying woke and active through a narcissist's presidency, trimming the fat on good design and writing, which bike route to take today, which one of my huge lists of movies, books, and podcasts should I check out next?
On a typical Friday night I am
Out for a drink with a friend or two, at an art gallery opening / concert / live event, watching Netflix with a bag of Smartfood, cranking on a personal or freelance project.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Alright here goes...sometimes I go on OkCupid.

You made it this far 👍
