My self-summary
Well, I'm certainly not perfect. Lived overseas off and on till the age of 14. University of Vermont. '66 through '72 with the Navy, landing my plane aboard aircraft carriers.
I walk everywhere and beyond, a camera always in hand. I truly enjoy helping others, to be a shoulder, to share the angst. I'll try almost anything once... I like doing the dishes and will ask for directions when I am lost. (Above photo, 12/7/13)
What I’m doing with my life
Coming to terms with growing older. It's not easy! As we all know. I'm finally retired. Let the traveling begin!
I’m really good at
empathy, sharing, backbone, support, decision making (as long as it does not involve me!) and......
The first things people usually notice about me
When younger; my eyes, my bum and a modicum of intelligence caught the stray eye.
Now, much older, weathered and a tad bit slower.....
I like to think that their first impressions are of a guy who is present, watching, listening...accepting.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
All things Alice Munro, Michael Chabon, Hilary Mantel, Raymond Chandler, Elmore Leonard, George Saunders, Barbara Kingsolver....
Kurosawa, Coppola, Bergman, Preston Sturges, Ford, Robert O. Armstrong, Leos Carax, Coen Brothers..... Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Veep, Borgen, Justified, The Good Wife, Masterpiece Theatre and all shows that deal with cooking... Jazz, Great American Songbook 30/40's, 60's folk/rock/blues, Verdi, Mozart, Bach....I'll eat anything...once...and then Japanese, Thai, Indian, Korean and all cuisines in-between, but, if its sold on the street, I'm standing in the line.
The six things I could never do without
my Howdy Doody Doll
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How dam fortunate I am to have some health, a roof over my head...and medicare!
On a typical Friday night I am
most probably having sushi somewhere.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If we connect it will probably be a doozey!
