My self-summary
Brief self-summary statements:
I am extremely passionate about science, mathematics, and teaching both of these subjects; when I get excited, I speak with my entire body.
I love cooking, especially for my friends. I also love when they cook for me.
Plants bring me happiness (and an increased oxygen supply) and so I surround myself with as many as I can.
I like to be the inner spoon.
I like singing really loudly in the car or at home, but never in public (please, no karaoke or musicals).
I love reading because there is no greater feeling than the one I experience at the end of a spectacular book.
I use the oxford comma.
At first I was skeptical of Tumblr, but now I love it.
No matter what my mood is, a cup of tea will always make me feel better.
What I’m doing with my life
I teach high school science and mathematics: chemistry, physics, precalculus, and algebra. (Yes, I really do teach all four subjects.) It takes up most of my time because I'm constantly working to improve myself as an educator. Also, I really love my job and so I want to put in the extra time and effort.
I’m really good at
cooking. I love to cook and, incidentally, I love to eat.
I'm very good at giving spontaneous science lessons to my friends.
I'm also very good at going on tangents, in or out of class.
The first things people usually notice about me
If my tattoos are visible, they are noticed. I have eight so far, ranging in size from three tiny stars on my wrist to the shoulder/half-sleeve floral piece.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love to read. I've got a favorite book for just about every genre, but I especially love to read short stories, graphic novels and comic books, russian/soviet literature, science fiction, and fantasy.

I spend a lot of my time prepping for school and grading papers at home, during which I'll either watch a TV series on Netflix or listen to some tunes. My Netflix queue is dominated by a lot of science fiction, comedy, and nature documentary series. And if we're being honest, I freaking love cartoons.

I'll listen to anything, but I tend to come back to bands and composers like The Beatles, Fleet Foxes, Alabama Shakes, The Bowerbirds, J.S. Bach, St. Vincent, Bon Iver, Radiohead, Modest Mussorgsky, James Blake, Girl Talk, Jay-Z and Kanye, Led Zeppelin, Dmitri Shostakovich, Vladimir Vysotsky, David Bowie, and José Gonzales. (I swear that that's the shortened version.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
1. The physical and chemical processes at the root of everything in our universe (to the best of my ability).
2. What I'll be teaching tomorrow.
3. Women with upper chest tattoos and men with sleeve tattoos.
On a typical Friday night I am
After a full week of school, I'm exhausted and usually fall asleep early in the evening. Boring, I know, but it allows me to make the most of Saturday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I play role-playing games, such as Dungeons and Dragons and World of Darkness, and fucking love them.
