Do you know your personality type? Are these things accurate?
I am equal parts easy going and intense. While I can sit still for long hours I prefer to be moving. I pursue interests vigorously and I have a lot of them.
I have a strong inclination toward helping others. When I use my skills and experience in that way it is hugely satisfying.
I was recently told I was a good listener! I'll take that as a +1 for personal improvement. I do enjoy listening but have only recently been working on improving that particular skill set.
Teaching: I love teaching classes on topics I know well. Among other things, I teach people how to fly airplanes, which I find exhilarating. It is satisfying to engage with people through the process of learning; I get jazzed assisting others in achieving their goals.
Fixing things: Since childhood I was always taking things apart to see how they work. I usually couldn't get them back together in a way that was functional, but I've improved that over the years.
This may explain why I will try to fix most anything. Had a broken clutch in the wilderness of Colorado so I pulled out the engine, biked to town with the broken part. Found a guy to weld it for a 6 pack of beer. Put it all back together - it actually worked. I wished right then I had kept one of those beers.
Making breakfast: best meal of the day. Bagels are an important staple. I love making waffles and omelettes, too. One time I made me and my SO fresh picked fiddlehead omelettes. Should have heeded the "DO NOT PICK FIDDLEHEADS" sign as we were both sick later that day. I still like fiddleheads, though.
Mountain biking: Among my more radical adventures was cycling to the peak of a 14,000 foot mountain. The downhill ride was 3 hours! I love mountain biking because it offers so many ways to access nature.

too many kids books to list (I especially love the Sandra Boynton ones)
I seldom watch TV. I am fascinated by space, the sea, nature's awesomeness. Sometimes I watch that sort of programming.
Much of my information consumption is online (TED, reddit, news, etc). I've not subscribed to cable programming in a very long time. Most of my work is done online as a Web programmer and consultant. Tech is awesome; the benefits to society are obvious. For all of tech's upsides though, nature is always better. Lately I haven't been getting enough nature. I want more nature, dammit. Just went sledding today. Sledding is great but snowboarding would be more fun. I love x-country skiing and snowshoeing, too. I'd probably like backcountry skiing, too but I've not done that in these hills yet.
Wallace and Grommet movies are great. I like a variety in movies. Something that keeps you thinking. Almost anything with aliens or about aliens. I have a fascination with alien movies. I don't think that makes me weird. You decide for yourself. What was that alien movie where the aliens were stuck in South Africa? I liked that one. Moon was pretty awesome - though there weren't really any aliens. (Thank you to the pretty lady that reminded me the movie was called, "District 9". Did you like it?)
For music, I am enjoying David Gray, Sade, Pink Floyd, Annie Lennox, The Cure (old skool!), Sarah Mclaughlin (cheesy? No, sexy voice), some piano, all kinds of solo guitar work, and dash of classical, some hip hop or rap, (why do I like Eminem? Not sure), CSN, Zeppelin, any and all jazz/funk/infusion. I love sax and most saxy music. The most sax I have ever had was during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Nice!
Food? Veggies (all of 'em) , Thai, any pasta, pizza (of course), I enjoy cooking with lots of spice. Breakfast is a specialty. I like pickled things and salt. I drink coffee from every corner of the planet. I buy it fresh, grind it fresh, brew it fresh and prefer it hot and black. My life was changed for the better when I found the Aeropress single cup brewer. Coffee is amazing when done right. Get one for yourself. You're welcome!
I also think about how much life can be packed into a single year. It is so exciting to think of the possibilities for the future
There, I have scared the others off! Now it is just you, so please send a note if you want to.
I am a responsible guy with roots in the area. I want to engage with cool people who share similar interests and attributes. Lets do something awesome together!
I am not here looking for hookups, even though that can be fun. Social and intellectual stimulation will be a win for me.
I'll snow board, snowshoe, x-country ski, bike, blade, yoga, boat or sit for coffee just to talk. Whatever!
If I sent you a message - please reply, even with bad news! I like to hear it.
Talk to you soon!
