I'm always curious about what motivates people and how things work, and I enjoy making things work better and making people happy. I think that potlucks are the best kind of party.
I've never had heartbreak that wasn't worth it.
Before I moved I had weekly dinner/movie nights and weekly board game nights; I'm working towards building a community here.
The game I'm making is a couch-multiplayer, cooperative, procedurally-generated 2D platformer. You can see it at ChimeraGenesis.com. If you try our demo, please send me feedback!
Lately I have been really enamored with small local multiplayer video games, like Towerfall, Forced, and Speed Runners. I like immersive western RPGs like StarControl 2, Diablo, and The Elder Scrolls, and also fast precise platformers like Mega Man X and Super Meat Boy, strategic games like Civilization and StarCraft, and lots of small clever games like FTL, Portal, Terraria, Thomas Was Alone, and Natural Selection.
My favorite books are The Caves of Steel, by Isaac Asimov, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, by Robert Heinlein, The Dispossessed, by Ursula K. LeGuin, Watership Down, by Richard Adams, The Children of Hurin, by JRR Tolkien, and Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card.
I enjoy almost every movie I see. The Princess Bride, Wag the Dog, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, I Heart Huckabees, Ink, The Secret of Kells, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog are really good. I'm super into the recent trend of NASA fan movies Interstellar, Gravity, The Martian.
I'm a bit late-blooming when it comes to music. I like to dance to dance music. I like most acoustic alternative music, sappy stuff. I also like protest and folk songs, especially ones that are good for singing along. I like the Rise Up Singing songbook. Regina Spektor, Flogging Molly, Daft Punk, Tchaikovsky. I like to whistle.
I'm a vegetarian. I like Mexican food, Italian food, Indian food, Ethiopian food, and cheesy food. I like to cook and bake. I like fruit and candy.
2. Potlucks are the best kind of party. Don't find many, but when I do...ohh boy.
3. Periodic creative outlets. Rarely the same thing twice in a row, but if I go too long without creating something I both enjoy and am proud of, I start getting anxious.
4. But without my share of sponge time, being creative is too draining. I need to be able to purely absorb stuff other people have made sometimes.
5. Being puzzled is important. And there are so many things to puzzle over!
6. Other people to share all these things with, to hold and love, and to challenge me and my ideas.
