My self-summary
Dad. Musician. Technician. Geek. Impossible.

My personality tab up there says I'm less adventurous. This may be so...but I would like to change that. Not anything to jeopardize my life (I live for my kids) or career (again, kids first) but I could use a couple of late nights spent carousing about with abandon. There, I said it folks...

Other little goals? Being the best me I can be. Making much more music. Working with other musicians and artist and being more collaborative. Trying to find a little madness that make me smile.

I'm learning to skateboard again after 20 years off. My kids are learning too so it's something we can do together and gets me out exercising. My ankles hate me right now.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a proud dad of two great kids...I work for a technology contracting company that currently has me doing some prototyping and production work. Going back to school to earn an Electrical Engineering degree. Trying to get back to playing more music...it's what helps define me as a person and I haven't had a lot of time to devote to it as of late.
I’m really good at
Well, being a dad. Kind of proud of that one. But other than that, I like to write and perform original music. I feel writing a good song is like a good inside joke...as long as someone listening gets it. I really like talking about music/literature/the arts and debating/bouncing concepts with people. I'm also quite the fix-it man. I like to build/repair musical instruments or quirky electronic goodies.
The first things people usually notice about me
This is kind of a narcissistic question. I really don't know. I think it might be a bit weird to ask my friends to look at me and specifically tell me what they notice. You'll have to do that for yourself.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Dharma Bums - -Jack Kerouac
On the Road - Jack Kerouac
Dune - Frank Herbert
Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien
Asimov Sci-Fi, Trashy Dirk Pitt novels...
Star Wars, Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, The Indiana Jones Series, 80's John Hughes and Savage Steve Holland, Dark Comedies, etc.
Mad Men, Warehouse 13, Daily Show and Colbert Report. BBC stuff. Doctor Who, Sherlock.
Elliott Smith, The Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Eels, Wilco, Phish, The Beatles, Brian Wilson, The Beach Boys, Sean Lennon, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Tom Harrell, Prince, Hendrix, etc.
Food? It's good. Like the sushi. Could eat a steak. Veggies are grand.
The six things I could never do without
kids. friends. guitar. happiness. beer and snacks.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I really dig well written lyrics. Stuff that challenges the listener to think more about the point of view of the singer in an impressionistic, almost abstract way. It's like making the angriest (or the most lovely) peanut butter and jelly in the world. You still make the sandwich, but the method and end result have you thinking.
On a typical Friday night I am
Getting together with friends to enjoy home-brewed beer, insightful conversation, thought provoking music, and the occasional impromtu jam.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Ok. I'm 42 and like wearing Vans Sneakers. Nothing too crazy or colorful, but classic. There, I said it.

Mind you, I wear them during appropriate situations...ie, concerts, bars, and the like...not to the opera.
