My self-summary
Hey Everyone! :). How's it goin? The name is Scott, and I consider myself an awesome, high-quality individual :). In a nutshell, I'm a very caring, affectionate person with a strong spirit and a big heart. I also really enjoy being around people, and living my life the best I can. I hold many identities that are essential to my being; Metalhead, Salsa dancer, lover, and the list goes on. There's much more to who I am, but I hope you talk to me to find out ;) \m/.
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated with a BA in Communications (concentration in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication) from George Mason University in the Spring of 2012, and since then I've been working different jobs/internships to gain experience. My goal is to have a career as high school guidance counselor or a social worker, which requires a masters, so for now I'm working for a pet care company in Northern VA, so I'll be saving up money for a couple years for grad school. Until then, I plan on using my time to put energy into my work, continuing to live, gaining knowledge and experience, and also putting energy into my music and striving to enjoy as much of life as I can :) \m/.
I’m really good at
- guitar and music: I'm extremely passionate about music, and it shows in my playing. I love to write Metal that has a lot of melody to it, and guitar harmonies and melodies are my style. Currently putting a new project together, so once the music is ready and we have recordings as well as shows lined up, you should definitely check us out :D. Keep an eye out in the local scene for Seventh Autumn ;) \m/

-dancing; I LOVE to dance! My favorite is Latin music; particularly Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata. But I got rhythm, so I can dance to anything ;).

- performing; I'm incredibly comfortable in front of an audience. Performing is one of those feelings for me that I can't describe, it just transports me to a different world. This also includes public speaking.

- mentoring; I love the feeling of being there for someone and making a difference. This is what draws me to a career as a guidance counselor or social worker, I want to be a positive force in another's life, because at the end of the day, we need someone to be there for us, and that's the person I want to be :).

- speaking from the heart; I always do everything from my heart, it's the only way I know how to live. I will always treat you with respect, kindness, care, passion, and pure love that comes from my heart and spirit. It's the way I've always been, and it's the way I always will be <3 \m/
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair and my beard! I've been growing my hair for 15 years now, and it's almost past my ass! I've been growing my beard for 5 years now as well. It's usually the aesthetic aspects of myself that draw people, which works for me because I love having long hair, and I know how to take care of it and use it ;). The long hair is especially perfect for playing shows with my band; perfect for windmilling \m/

In terms of internal aspects of my being, most people usually first notice my outgoing and positive nature; being around people gives me energy, and I enjoy meeting new people and sharing stories and experiences. Talking to me for even a minute I'm sure you'll pick up on this as well ;) \m/
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Harry Potter series, LGBTQ literature, biographies and autobiographies, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, horror. I'm also a huge fan of magical realism authors such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Isabel Allende. I can't remember who wrote it but I also love the book "Like Water for Chocolate", such a beautiful story. Huge fan of Neil Gaiman's work as well.

Movies - Comedies, especially anything by Judd Apatow; the 40 Year Old Virgin is by far one of my fav movies. Also I love action, sci-fi, and some horror.

Shows - All the competition shows on the Food Network have been a constant in my life for the last few years lol (Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, Beat Bobby Flay, etc.). I've also become a huge fan of Sleepy Hollow (although I'm soooooooo pissed they killed off Nicole Beharie's character), The Blacklist, Lucifer, Scorpion, Bob's Burgers, and The Mindy Project (I have the biggest celebrity-crush on Mindy Kaling :3).

Music - METAL!!! I love all genres of music, but Metal is my number one \m/. I love too many bands to list them all, but I'll list a few to give you an idea of what I'm into; Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Death, Kreator, Arch Enemy, Arsis, In Flames, At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Chimaira, Korn, Slipknot, ILL Nino, Trivium, COHEED AND CAMBRIA (not really Metal, but I still love them), Ulver, Agalloch, Alcest, Drudkh, Wolves in the Throne Room, Fen, and that's enough for now. I also love latin music, especially Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata! I love to dance to it too, and anything that has a good beat to dance to I also dig \m/

Food - I really don't discriminate, I just love food lol. However I do have a huge affinity for Latin, Indian, Asian, Italian, American, etc. I also really love vegetarian/vegan food and thinking of making the transition sometime soon. But pretty much If it's food, and it's dank, I'll be down haha
Six things I could never do without
- My family (which includes my close friends)
- Passion, love, and social justice
- Music, especially Metal \m/
- My guitars \m/
- Dancing
- Mother Nature and being outdoors
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- My twin brother (RIP). I miss him with all my heart, and he's been my reason for being, and will always be my reason. I live in his honor, and I know he'd be proud of me <3 |m/
- Relationships. I enjoy thinking about what makes them work, what makes them fail, interpersonal problems that may arise in relationships, and how the heart works. This is by far one of the main things that consumes my thoughts and daydreams.
- Activism and dismantling oppression. I'm extremely passionate about standing against all forms of societal oppression, whether it's racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, age-ism, and the list goes on. Dismantling oppression is something I've dedicated my life to, and that's never going to change \m/
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday nights tend to vary for me quite a bit. If there's a show going on whether it's local bands or a national touring band I'll most likely be at that, or I'll go out dancing with some friends, or just spending time with friends doing anything that catches our fancy. Very rarely will I stay in on a Friday lol
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a very open person, so I don't have issues with talking about things that are very personal to me. But the most private and personal aspect of my being is this:

Losing my twin brother (RIP Brian Picone) has been the most difficult thing I've ever been through; to lose a part of your soul like that is devastating. However, I will keep living my life to the fullest both for myself, and for him as well, and that's something I can promise to myself and to you \m/
You should message me if
As long as you're not homophobic/super conservative (politically or socially), then I say go for it!

Also I've learned over the years that I'm not good at rushing into a relationship, that I need to take things slow before I feel comfortable committing to someone, so if you're cool with getting to know me as a friend before we date then I'd also say go ahead and message me :). Just as a disclaimer that doesn't mean that I need to message you on here for weeks before we meet in person. If we're chatting and we're clicking then I'm definitely down to hang out in person :). And by hang out, that's not code for "let's fuck right now" (I know how a lot of guys on dating websites tend to be so I just wanted to clear that up), it means that I legit want us to hang out, chat, and get to know each other :).

Getting to know me will be an awesome experience that you won't regret, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you too :) \m/

Also, if you want to know more about me, I feel this song really speaks to me:
The two of us
