I'm a film geek so that means I don't just watch movies, I study/dissect/research them. I am a very creatively driven person and I'm drawn to other creative people. I've always drawn and painted although now it's mostly done in photoshop. I also dabble in photography, motion graphics, animation and video editing. You can see some of my art, photography and animation at http://thirteenthman.deviantart.com/
I'm also into Music, Philosophy, History, Sociology, Psychology and Religion(but only from a far, far distance). I'm not spiritual in the slightest. I'm a critical thinking agnostic. I believe extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. In other words... I don't believe in God, ghost, psychics, demons, curses or superstitions but given credible evidence I would gladly alter my opinion. I'm pretty liberal politically.
I would have to say that my sense of humor is pretty complex. If there's a way to find something funny, I usually do. Sometimes I'll find something funny in 10 different ways. I've abused sarcasm so much that I've lost a conscious awareness of it. I hate comedians that pander(I'm looking at you Larry the Cable Guy aka Dan Whitney.) Currently I would say that Ricky Gervais makes me laugh hardest.
Random things about me:
I can be pretty shy at times but I'm quite sociable once I've gotten to know you. I was born left handed but my mom converted me into a right hander(mostly.) I go by my middle name. I don't play cards, drink coffee or sing(not even in the shower). I love Halloween, monsters, robots, cartoons, comics and zombies. I have a foot long scar on my abdomen from the 3 surgeries I had to remove parts of my colon(I'm fine now). I miss Jim Henson, Hunter S. Thompson, George Carlin and Bill Hicks. I'm fascinated with the Salem witch trials, McCarthyism, the French Revolution, the Orson Well's radio broadcast of War of the Worlds & old propaganda posters. I think that Monty Python's Life of Brian is the single greatest work about religion ever made and contains more truth than all religions combined.
I am freethinking, quirky, and imaginative
Some of the directors I love Spielberg, Kubrick, Lucas, Peter Jackson, Coen Bros, Soderbergh, Tim Burton, Terry Gilliam, Scorsese, John Carpenter, Wes Anderson, Coppolas(Francis, Sophia and Roman), Spike Jonze, Kevin Smith, P.T. Anderson, Aronofsky, Richard Linklater, John Carpenter, Edgar Wright, George Romero, Tarantino, Rodriguez and too many more.
I don't watch much tv anymore but I loved Freaks & Geeks, Buffy, Firefly or anything that Joss Whedon does, Carnivale, Deadwood, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Spaced, Mythbusters, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, The Office(UK), The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, SouthPark, Venture Bros. although if the tv is on it's probably on the History channel or one of the news channels.
I love music but it takes a back seat to film for me. Some artist and bands I like are The White Stripes, Eels, Radiohead, Flaming Lips, Weezer, Tom Waits, Beck. I also like most rock from the 60s and 70s... Beatles, Zeppelin, Queen, Dylan, Petty etc. I also have an obsession with Danny Elfman. I've pretty much given up on radio so I usually just listen to NPR in my car. I've gone to Bonnaroo twice but have missed out the past two years and really want to go again.
I don't read as much fiction as I used to but I like Kurt Vonnegut, Hunter S Thompson, Chuck Palahniuk, Bret Easton Ellis, Clive Barker, H.P. Lovecraft, Ben Franklin, Mark Twain. I read a lot non-fiction usually books about film, philosophy, history and biographies and whatever catches my attention.
