My self-summary
This is the most difficult part, where I have to summarize a person, and that person being myself, in words. I am sure I will describe myself differently from day to day, depending on my mood and the words that pop up in my mind, but still here goes a sincere effort in doing so.
As a person I have been described as friendly, humble, honest, kind, caring. I agree with most of them, but of course I am not perfect, rather far from being so ... I think people are not always very open about pointing at your faults on your face. But anyways, I know I can be indecisive at times; although I am patient most of the time, but when I lose it, I often do or say things in hot-temper, and which I almost always regret - just making a conscious effort so that they do not happen more frequently than my liking.
Otherwise, I prefer simplicity in life. I enjoy reading, listening to or playing music, watching cinemas, traveling to new places, hiking/backpacking, bicycling, watching football (soccer), going to live shows and spending time with my friends - just talking or over exploring new places to eat in town.
What I’m doing with my life
I am working in the semiconductor industry as a design engineer. I moved to Portland area after finishing my PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Arizona State University. I don't like everything in the corporate world, but I am okay with it for the time being, and I generally do a good job at keeping a distance between my life and work without ignoring my professional responsibilities.
Outside that, there are a few things I love to do. I am learning violin for a little more than 3 years now, ... I have been playing guitar a little longer than that. Although I mostly play for my own pleasure, but once in a while, I play in some gigs with people I know. I love to travel to new places, and know about them, and the thought of 'how I can re-visit the places I liked without piling up the places-to-go list within limited time' does always consume some part of my brain. Listening to good music, and watching good movies sooth my soul. Living in the pacific NW has ignited my love for nature even more, and I try to take as much opportunity to explore that by day-hike/backpacking tours or using my bicycle. I watch a lot of football (soccer) - club football mostly, but it is okay (and possibly good) if you don't as I will have other things to talk about when I am upset about my team :) .... other than that, reading books, going to live shows, and spending time with friends (and most of the time that involves exploring the abundance of restaurants and pubs in Portland) fill up the rest of the time.
I’m really good at
This sounds like a self-propaganda, but I guess the purpose of the whole profile is that, and that is okay. I think I take most of the things I do with some degree of seriousness, and I am reasonably good at most of them, with the potential of immense improvement in everything.
The first things people usually notice about me
I really don't know about that, and I don't feel comfortable asking people about this :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I never really felt that I can't date someone just for the reason that my favorite book or music isn't her favorite, and anyways there are too many favorites in all ... so my list is more about what I generally read or listen to, and so on.
Books: I generally always read one fiction and one non-fiction at the same time ... currently the non-fiction part is mostly consisting with books and essays on different political science and economics topics ... on fiction, I recently read all the Harry Potter books (yes, for the first time :) ), and I really loved them.

Movies: I watch a lot of foreign films, and the way it generally goes is, either I randomly find about a movie from somewhere, or I watched and loved a movie of a director and then explore the other films made by him or her ... I also have friends enthusiast about films or working/studying in the area, and get a constant line of recommendation from them.

Shows: I go to live music shows, preferably rock, blues or electro ... attending the Phish concerts at Gorge amphitheater will definitely be among my top list.

Music: All the classic rock, alternate rock, electro, blues ... recently I am listening to a lot of "Air". If you haven't, then this is a highly recommended band.

Food: Don't really have an outright favorite, but I eat mostly everything and always willing to try something new.
The six things I could never do without
Food, water, family, friends, books, music ... it is hard to tell unless it is taken away from you.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what I should think next.
On a typical Friday night I am
Generally, there are not any such typical Friday activities. If friends are going somewhere or doing something, I may join them ... or I may read something at home, or relax ... but that's pretty much about everyday, not anything special about Friday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
It won't be private if I broadcast it here. Will it be? :) ... but honestly, you can ask me anything and I don't see a reason behind hiding anything.
You should message me if
Even if you have read through all I have written, I am sure you don't know anything about me, and in general you are possibly still unsure about the potential of online dating ... but if you feel interested about getting to know, we can always talk. Personally, I would prefer to meet someone in person rather than infinite amount of to-and-fro messages and I feel it easier to communicate, but I understand that different people need to be at different comfort levels for doing that.
