My self-summary
________________________________________________
Ladies: I'm getting off of here for a while.
The few of you I've been fortunate enough to meet or talk to have been great, but I need to take some time off to clear my head and think about things. So, apologies in advance for not responding to any messages you may send.

I grew up bouncing around the western world, came back to the US in time for high school, and got sucked into being a bit of a band nerd. Studied architecture in college at LSU, felt a calling to go into community design/humanitarian architecture, and so I moved to New Orleans to help out. Turns out it's more complicated than that, but I'm doing what I can, and trying to live a little while doing so.

I'm religious, but open-minded, and pretty private about it. It's very much a live-and-let-live sort of philosophy.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to learn EVERYTHING. Currently working on trying as many new places as possible, running, and building the best things ever, but the to do list is quite long, and getting longer.

Update: Add flying, slow cooking, and swing dancing to the list. It's been an interesting year.
I’m really good at
Picking up new friends, and doing crazy things after planning them for far too long. I also used to be pretty decent at running around football fields with a trumpet, but I'm sure the prodigies I marched with would probably say otherwise.

I often bite off more than I can chew. Oddly, it somehow usually works out. Or it fails miserably, but I've gotten some good stories out of those.
The first things people usually notice about me
I didn't plan it this way, but it turns out I don't have simple answers to any of the usual getting-to-know-you questions, so people get to know a decent bit about me pretty quick.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books (authors): Orson Scott Card, Michael Crichton, Jules Verne, Mary Shelley, JK Rowling, but I don't get around to reading as much as I'd like.

Shows: Firefly, Arrested Development, Star Trek TNG, Mythbusters, Macgyver, Bones, Castle, Daily Show, 30 Rock, Community, Burn Notice, The Good Guys, Futurama, Family Guy, Glee, Robot Chicken.

Movies: Chris Nolan Movies, Casino Royale, V for Vendetta, Iron Man, Serenity, Star Wars (all), Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, LotR, Unbreakable, the Big Lebowski, all Pixar movies, most old-school Disney movies.

Music: The Cavaliers, other drum corps, Cake, Boston, Howard Shore, Eric Whitacre, Johnny Cash, Evanescence, Ratatat, Guns 'n' Roses, AC/DC, Eminem's later work.

Food: Open to (some) new things.
The six things I could never do without
A purpose, the tools to do something about it, and some compatriots to share in the adventure.

Oh, and a roll of duct tape, a rubber band and a paperclip, just to be safe.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How things work, how things affects other things, how to make things work better, and how to use things to help people.

I've been known to get on long and circuitous trains of thought and and up in strange places, with no clue how I got there, which inevitably is when someone asks what I'm thinking about.
On a typical Friday night I am
My ideal Friday night would be trying new fun things with fun people.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My ideal relationship would look a lot like Calvin and Hobbes', only with a fair bit more smooching.
You should message me if
..you're passionate about something (nearly anything) and want to share it with someone, or want to share in some of mine!

Bonus points if you'd be up for being a hiking/climbing/canoeing/camping buddy. Or a scuba buddy. Or an in-flight or road-trip navigator/DJ. Or a dance partner. Or a spades partner. Mega bonus for all of the above.
