My self-summary
I am very optimistic, spontaneous, bubbly, and joyful. I love being around people joking and debating. I hate to see people upset and in pain and believe that we should try and make life as enjoyable for one another as we can because hard times could just be around the corner. I like helping people as long as I do not feel that I am losing myself in the process or that it is too one-sided. I always try to make intimate relationships with friends. I can deal with the superficial but if that is all someone has to offer and they are without depth then I wouldn't consider them to be a true friend. If you are my friend I will look after you and defend you all the way - as long as you haven't been really, really, really bad ;-)

I am smart but not so much that I am out of touch with people who haven't been to university or picked up a copy of Being and Nothingness and I am repulsed by people who flaunt their intelligence to intimidate others. I strive to be as open minded as possible. I am caring and am also very good with children because I have to admit I am just a big kid at heart and I hope that will never change as I somewhat believe this is the secret to my youthful looks - yes I am really 33 ;-)

I love film particularly art-house film and drama. My favourite films of all time are Blue Velvet, Apocalypse Now, Blue Valentine, Six Degrees of Separation, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club... to name a few. I am a first-class literature graduate so am well read but I don't read as much as I used to, mainly because I am busy living these days and enjoying all that it has to offer. I also take music very seriously. My taste is so varied that it would be impossible to capture its breadth in text but alas I will attempt it with a string of artist/composer names: Beck, The Smiths, Philip Glass, Radiohead, R.E.M, Bjork, Frank Ocean, TV on the Radio. I really like eating out and love cooking at home. I like to spend time down the pub with my friends at weekends and sometimes go clubbing. I prefer to host dinner parties or house parties as its a better way to socialise I feel than just flailing around on a dance floor deafening the ear drums of whoever you try to speak to - and oh my good do I flail - I cant dance for s#it so be warned! I am really into TV series of top quality at the moment: Twin Peaks, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, The Wire, Game of Thrones, etc. to me they are the new novel.

The reason why I am here is to find someone special, someone I genuinely click with on multiple levels. They must have a good sense of humour and not be appalled by how dark mine can be sometimes. They must also be caring like me and not afraid to express emotion when appropriate - I have experienced enough ice queens for a lifetime. I am physically affectionate and love snuggling up, cuddling and kissing. I would love to have children at some point as I think I would be a very good loving parent with so much knowledge to impart however I would be content without.

My sense of purpose is as precise as it is clear: I am simply looking for love, nothing more, nothing less. Whilst I dont mind making friends on this journey, I am looking for the most interesting, beautiful, open, caring, understanding and affectionate woman on the planet; ambitious and quite possibly delusional I know!

To avoid sounding overly picky, generic, and to clear up any possible ambiguity, I will define my terms so as to give a picture of what these qualities mean to me:

'Interesting' - This to me is someone who can narrate areas of their life, to share their observations and their experiences, in such a way so as to give a glimpse of the passion and the glow of the individual. I don't care if you've travelled to every part of the globe, that you've drank tea with the Dalai Lama, built schools for impoverished children in Somalia, and spent an entire summer farming in Cambodia. I dont care if you've spent most of your life living on a council housing estate and can be seen every Friday night, without fail, in the local Yates Wine Lodge sipping Smirnoff Ice and dancing the night away. And, I don't care if you spend most evenings in bed reading Victorian literature wistfully longing for romance yet not having the necessary confidence to secure it. All I care about is that when you share your encounters, your joys, your successes, your dissapointments and your missed opportunities, you do so with that beautiful human spark that is like opening the curtains of the soul and letting everyone, momentarily, see inside. That this also be authentic and not a performance.

'Beautiful' - Whilst aesthetic beauty - the way someone looks - is of course one obvious aspect of what to me is beauty, there is much, much more. I am one of those people who has thankfully developed in to someone who can find beauty in most things. The way someone responds to situations, their confidence or lack of, quirky personal habits, how they have overcome obstacles and strengthened their personality, all of these can be beautiful to me so its very difficult to say for certain what beauty means to me. I do not have a type. I believe I once used to have a type, however, the passing of time and experience have made me realise that one can quite often be surprised and find beauty in the least expected places.

'Open' - Openness is quite simply the ability to express how one is feeling and to communicate one's desires, frustrations and pain. I really do not do mind games and prefer verbal communication and congruous body language because hey, we are adults after all - aren't we????

'Caring' - If you are caring you are able to empathise, to show compassion and, when appropriate, sympathy To. It is being able to identify when people are down and in need of help and to be willing to help and listen to them if needed. Life is not always a non-stop, euphoric party and hard times could be just around the corner so I believe that it is important to be there for people who matter most.

'Understanding' - Growing up as a 'cool' working class teenager in an economically deprived town I was, admittedly, a provincial, narrow minded, asshole. Luckily, through education and learning from life events, I have developed a very understanding nature. I feel it is important for me to find someone who is similar. This is essentially having the knowledge that everyone is different and that there is no perfect way of living that should be imposed upon all others. It is being aware that people have the capacity to change - within limits. We all have our opinions but I do not have much time for zealots who are unable to grasp the complexity of life.

'Affectionate' - Quite simply put, someone who can communicate their affections through human contact. I love hugs and kisses and believe them to be the greatest things in the world.

I hope I have given you an idea of the kind of girl I am looking for and, simultaneously, the kind of person I am. If you like any or all of the above get in touch and we can get to know each other better :-) x
