My self-summary
I'm not very good at introspection, but a brief history would include that I grew up in Illinois and came to California quite a while ago to study mathematics. I dropped out of graduate school to work in the tech industry, and have been managing some combination of computers and people ever since.

I like farmer's markets, good salami, and a nice rye Manhattan before dinner. I also like taking pictures of people I know, playing with my friends' children, and excuses to use interesting tools.

I really will write more soon.

I am unusual, industrious, and accepting
What I’m doing with my life
Working, but only a little too much.

Contemplating home improvement projects that will probably end up taking five times longer than expected and involve many trips to the hardware store.

Planning to get into the habit of walking more before winter hits and discourages me.
I’m really good at
Organizing and planning other people's stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have at least a six week supply of Aloha shirts, and most are relatively tasteful.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm bad at favorites, so these are just a few examples that have caught my attention recently.

Books -- Connie Willis, Ruth Reichl, China Miéville (I love Perdido Street Station and Un Lun Dun, but I'm not sure that I really get Iron Council), and I keep meaning to start the collected stories of Theodore Sturgeon.

Television -- I follow America's Next Top Model, but only every few seasons. Watching Battle Star Galactica on Netflix, and probably re-watching Veronica Mars again soon. I love Ricky Gervais, but I think the NBC Office is better.

Music -- Cracker, The Great Crusades, Martin Denny, The Pogues.

Food -- You name it. I'm fond of barbecue (Korean, Oakland, or carne asada) and a good Dungeness crab, but I'm no stranger to tabouleh and masala dosa. I love cooking and eating good food. I'd like to open a restaurant when this whole internet thing blows over, but I'm probably too much of a dilettante to follow through.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I say things I don't mean, but I get offended when people don't believe me.
The two of us
