My self-summary
I am a proud and confident introvert with a passion for doing good. Unabashedly INFJ (Meyers-Briggs); but I appreciate and love to explore with all kinds of personality types! I relate to this so much: http://tinyurl.com/MonkSeal

I enjoy good spicy foods, getting outdoors, exploring, general silliness, artful experiences, and introspective interactions. My university background is in photography and installation/performance art; and I love being immersed in or talking about the qualities of art and imaginative objects or happenings.

I have a dog that I love unconditionally and a cat who unconditionally loves me. I have few friends, but the ones I do have are good to me and me to them. I am a car-free citizen; and love the adventure of exploring our urban environment through all means (walk, bike, metro,).

I approach life with a kind of optimistic cynicism; my sense of humor is silly, playful, somewhat sarcastic, yet doesn't shy from being seriously dark. (Ie. Monty Python's song about the Universe in the Meaning of Life or the amazing ending to Life of Brian.)

I am polyamorous and am deeply devoted to those I connect with. I feel so fortunate to have partners that I love deeply (and some amazing metamours who I have great friendships with as well). At times when my life isn't overly full, I am open to meeting poly-friendly people: whether they're new platonic friendships, new lovers, or new kinky play partners! I can approach relationships with great ease or smoldering intensity. I believe respect, care, selflessness, trust, and empathy at the essence of being poly.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently, I am in my second year of graduate school to become a professional mental health counselor. I used to work in arts management and am an avid patron of the arts... it gives our short lives such meaning. I have adventured and explored; but for now I am content settling in Buffalo, working hard, and taking every spare moment possible to enjoy life.
I’m really good at
Being relaxed or meditative, relating to people, having an intuitive eye for seeing the world, and appreciating every inch of everything in a unique way.
The first things people usually notice about me
I blend in a purposeful way; I am a good listener and enjoy learning about people. Everyone has a unique experience with life and I love that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Haruki Murakami, Beach House, Stars (the Canadian kind)

Adventure Time! + The Bravest Warriors (Catbug!), NPR weekends, Amy's Place, Paula's Donuts, craft beers & hot toddies

Music I am currently loving: Cellist Jacqueline du Pré, Daughter, Purity Ring, Father John Misty, Sylvan Esso, FKA Twigs, First Aid Kit, Horse Feathers, Neko Case, Mirah, The Tallest Man on Earth, Belle and Sebastian, Lemolo, IAMX, Andrew Bird.

I'm also falling in love with Buffalo's music scene -- there is such a wealth of talent here! PAUSA is a new favorite place of mine. (Just saw such a fun set by Wooden Cities over Christmas there!) The Silo Sessions have this rough yet dreamy quality to them. Other arts-places that I'm a fan of: Torn Space Theatre, the BPO, CEPA, Squeaky Wheel, Hallwalls, Indigo Gallery, and Dreamland.

I am terrible at keeping up with tv & films. Although I love the re-boot of Cosmos with Neil DeGrasse Tyson... he's no Carl Sagan, but he is still pretty wonderous. Over the Winter, I binge-watched a TON of Twin Peaks, Archer, Portlandia, Louie, and Broad City. Recent affective films: Moonlight, the animated adaptation of Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Shirley Clarke's Portrait of Jason, Boys in the Band, Shortbus, Take This Waltz, Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, It's Such a Beautiful Day.
Six things I could never do without
Spicy and delicious food, good coffee, close friends/lovers, meaningful work, adorable cat+dog, and warm dry socks.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Work. About Life. About the tragedy and wonder that is our conscious existence.
On a typical Friday night I am
I am typically relaxing on the couch with the dog after a long week... although I do love finding the motivation to go out and see art, film, theatre, eat, drink, and hanging out with friends and loves.
You should message me if
If the word 'feminism' consistently ranks in the top 2 of your favorite f-words. If you want to explore Buffalo's art, music, or food! If you want to go for a bike ride. If you want to explore hills, woods, or the occasional grain elevator.
