I enjoy good spicy foods, getting outdoors, exploring, general silliness, artful experiences, and introspective interactions. My university background is in photography and installation/performance art; and I love being immersed in or talking about the qualities of art and imaginative objects or happenings.
I have a dog that I love unconditionally and a cat who unconditionally loves me. I have few friends, but the ones I do have are good to me and me to them. I am a car-free citizen; and love the adventure of exploring our urban environment through all means (walk, bike, metro,).
I approach life with a kind of optimistic cynicism; my sense of humor is silly, playful, somewhat sarcastic, yet doesn't shy from being seriously dark. (Ie. Monty Python's song about the Universe in the Meaning of Life or the amazing ending to Life of Brian.)
I am polyamorous and am deeply devoted to those I connect with. I feel so fortunate to have partners that I love deeply (and some amazing metamours who I have great friendships with as well). I am always open to new partners, friends, lovers, flings, etc. I can approach relationships with great ease or smoldering intensity. I believe respect, care, selflessness, trust, and empathy at the essence of being poly.
Adventure Time! + The Bravest Warriors (Catbug!), NPR weekends, Amy's Place, Paula's Donuts, craft beers & hot toddies
Music I am currently loving: Cellist Jacqueline du Pré, Daughter, Purity Ring, Father John Misty, Sylvan Esso, FKA Twigs, First Aid Kit, Horse Feathers, Neko Case, Mirah, The Tallest Man on Earth, Belle and Sebastian, Lemolo, IAMX, Andrew Bird.
I'm also falling in love with Buffalo's music scene -- there is such a wealth of talent here! PAUSA is a new favorite place of mine. (Just saw such a fun set by Wooden Cities over Christmas there!) The Silo Sessions have this rough yet dreamy quality to them. Other arts-places that I'm a fan of: Torn Space, CEPA, Squeaky Wheel, Hallwalls, Indigo Gallery, and Dreamland.
I am terrible at keeping up with tv & films. Although I love the re-boot of Cosmos with Neil DeGrasse Tyson... he's no Carl Sagan, but he is still pretty wonderous. Over the Winter, I binge-watched a TON of Twin Peaks, Archer, Portlandia, Louie, Broad City, and Amy Schumer. Recent affective films: the animated adaptation of Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Shirley Clarke's Portrait of Jason, Boys in the Band, Shortbus, Take This Waltz, Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, It's Such a Beautiful Day.
