My self-summary
I'm a many splendored being. I march to the beat of my own drum. Right now, as you're reading this, I'm either sleeping or trying to figure out how to be a better man. I grew up near New York, close enough to come in for dinner, but far enough away that I picked corn and went fishing in my hometown. I've been to five continents and I'm plotting the last two. I used to live in Italy. I'm told it's obvious in the way I kiss. I like solving problems; I'm usually thinking of ways to save the world. Things will be better when I'm in charge. In my spare time I cook, grill, smoke, bake, pickle and otherwise preserve delicious things. It looks like I'm stressed out but trust, it relaxes me. Getting a group of interesting and intelligent people in a room to eat my cooking and drink some wine is my idea of a great weekday activity. I ride my bike and I own a car. I take them to the beach or the woods whenever I can. People tell me I smell great. I dance like no ones watching and I love like I've been hurt exactly seven times. I value whit, sarcasm, and sincerity. I see no contradiction there. I'm fiercely loyal and fiercely sentimental. I'm over-emotional, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
What I’m doing with my life
Computer whiz out to save the world. I work at a big non-profit that you can come visit and marvel at (seriously, it's marvelous what we do). I spend time in a datacenter, and time at a desk, and I write code that makes things hum. I think it's cool and the nerd/anti-nerd duality of modern hipsterism would be on my side in this argument. I will not, unfortunately, be able to fix your computer. Unless you're really nice.
I’m really good at
sarcasm, cooking, skiing, travelling without a map or a plan, spontaneity, feeling anxious, cutting through anxiety, making you laugh, making babies smile, talking to strangers, fixing things, having an opinion, identifying pop songs from the 80s within a bar, quoting movies you've forgotten you've seen. I like honesty. Brutal honesty. I'm going to tell you some of the things I'm terrible at: concentrating, not fidgeting, impulses and saying "no", committing to something unseen, admitting that I'm confused or uncomfortable, letting people make their own mistakes.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably curly hair. Or the birthmark on the end of my nose.

I will cook and/or eat anything. I do this often and with zest. This past weekend I smoked a 14 lb brisket for 24 hours and made watermelon rind pickles. The weekend before that I cooked pig trotter stock in anticipation of meat-pie making later this month. Tuesdays we eat tacos. We call it Taco Tuesdays. You can come if you're cool.
Six things I could never do without
justice, harmony (visual, auditory, spiritual, etc), silence, humor, eye contact, hand jobs
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what i should be doing; what if's. what's wrong with the world; how it might end. poems that i never write down. the next thing i'm going to cook.
On a typical Friday night I am
Dancing my ass off, riding my bike, or cooking dinner and watching a movie
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i'm going to change all of these answers about 50 times before i feel comfortable.

Also, about 90% of the people I meet on here will deem me "too intense". People that know and love me understand that it's because I'm demanding of myself to an unhealthy degree. It's got nothing to do with you. If you can relax and take that in stride, we'll get along great.
