My self-summary
As I get older I feel compelled to consistently refine my approach to living life. Ultimately, I find myself sorting out my personal philosophy in a deliberate way while reducing my need for control. This results in an increasingly enjoyable life. I tend to enjoy coffee shops where I lose myself in reading, my writing, or my school work. I like sneaking away to quiet corners of an art museum or gallery where I can wander aimlessly in my thoughts. I similarly enjoy being outdoors--cycling, camping, or hiking.
What I’m doing with my life
I just wrapped up my doctoral program, but perhaps more importantly, I'm strengthening my personal philosophy and am identifying how that relates to making the world a better place.
I’m really good at
practicing modesty and humility (although I can be somewhat prideful).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not too sure. Come meet me, and see for yourself.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
There is little sense in picking favorites. I enjoy Emerson, Ginsberg, Schlosser, Austen, Steinbeck among many others.

I enjoy Lynch, Tarantino, Almodovar, Hitchcock and a bit of Taymor as well.

Music and food are too wide of spectrums to even attempt capturing in short lists. I suppose the bottom line is that I look for adventure, something new, and something provocative. If we go through life without being exposed to new ideas and without challenging ourselves, what is life really about?
Six things I could never do without
books, my journal, wine, food, outdoors, good friends and late night conversations
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my place and purpose in the world and how to realize positive change. I'm also easily distracted by bold colors and objects or scenes that are visually provocative (art/advertising/clothing/furniture/etc.).
On a typical Friday night I am
spending the evening with my friends. It is likely that we will cook dinner together. Afterward we may simply stay in and enjoy a few bottles of wine or may end our evening dancing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a pretty open book, but I prefer some initial investment from the other person... so, lets catch up over coffee/etc.
You should message me if
you find my profile mildly interesting and think you have the potential to be a) provocative, b) adventurous, and/or c) unique in character.
